I recently ripped a CD (Muriel Anderson's "Sailing Dreams") and Plex could not match it so it listed it as Various Artists "Unknown Album". The tracks were named as they usually are after a rip (e.g. 01 Track 1 name) but Plex listed them out of order. I loaded the album in MP3Tag and it couldn't find any metadata for it either, so I entered the metadata myself using MP3Tag and verified that the title, album, album artist, and track number were correct for every track. I changed my music library to "Prefer local metadata" and edited the album in Plex to set the Album name and artist. While in the Plex editor I noted that the list of filenames is in the order that the tracks are showing i

I live in an assisted living facility and cannot setup an effective TV antenna. However, I have access to local broadcast signals via the same coax cable which brings us our cable signals (which aren't from a cable service, per se, but a local distribution of signals from a Dish satellite network). I can view the local broadcast channels on my TV or I can view the cable channels but not both -- some of the cable channels overlay some of the broadcast channels.
I've been thinking of setting up a Plex DVR but I don't know a lot about the nuts and bolts. Since both the cable channels and the broadcast channels are delivered by the same coax cable, I'm thinking that I might be able to set
Perhaps the community can help me wrap my head around something. I have a couple IRAs (one conventional/one Roth) which I have enrolled in Schwab's Intelligent Portfolios. When they rebalance my account they use tax-loss harvesting, which makes no sense to me in an IRA. I had called a Schwab rep about changing it -- he seemed rather surprised that I wanted to but told me that I could do it in settings on the IP website.
I couldn't figure out how to change it but the more I thought about it, I wasn't sure that there was any real reason to change it since there are no actual tax consequences. My reasoning for changing it seemed to be mainly psychological -- In the gain/loss section I'd ra
I had food delivered, tonight, and the bag had a "Packager receipt" attached, from the restaurant. The receipt showed the food items, subtotal, then tax and total. It showed no fees and listed the tip as $0. The restaurant was nearly 9 miles away so I tipped $16. Did the driver receive it? It was a Grubhub driver so I figured they were paid properly -- it makes sense that the restaurant would only show the charges on their end, but it worried me a little.
Anyone know how this works?
YouTubeTV on my Roku just got an all new revamped library and recently recorded is still broken, but now it's even more confusing to work around than before.
Just about forever I have had series which I record which have never shown up in "Recently Recorded" even though they have recently recorded new episodes. One example is the TV show "Transplant" on NBC. I never know when there are new episodes -- in the past I would go to the "Shows" tab periodically and check if there were new episodes -- as this happens with more than one show and I record a lot of shows, this is really inconvenient and annoying. Now they have revamped the libraries tab but this is still broken, but now there isn'
For a couple days now, the Investment Income tab no longer shows the summary in the upper left corner and the accounts section doesn't load -- it just shows a spinning icon. Is this working for anyone else?
I recently moved some money from a money market etf into a CD ladder. After doing that, my investment income projections went down drastically. I expected it to go down some just because the interest will be paid less often but this was more drastic. Upon investigation I found that for the CDs in question, the investment income page shows the expected income for the CDs as N/A (the shortest term one actually shows the expected income as $0!). I don't understand this -- it seems like it would be easy to calculate -- the term is fixed, the amount is fixed, and the rate is fixed. I realize that I can do the calculations myself, but does anyone know what Schwab doesn't just do this for me?
I have a friend who could really use a DVR setup but he is not technical and setting up a Plex DVR is probably beyond him. The meager consumer DVRs seem to have too many limitations so I have been trying to figure out if there is some way I could set up a Plex server for him and then send it to him (he lives in another state). I am hopeful that at most he would have to do is connect the tuner (HDHomerun) to his antenna, add the tuner and server to his network and scan for channels in his area. Somehow, I would have to obtain a PlexPass on his behalf in order to set things up.
Does this seem like a reasonable idea or are there complications likely which would make it a bad idea? (I have
I downloaded a tv series from archive.org and stored and named the episodes as I have always done for other series (e.g. show\season 01\show - S01E01 - epname) but all of the episodes are showing in Plex as they were named at archive.org with the showname as a prefix (as it was shown on the website) followed by - https://archive.org/....
How can I force it to use the names I've provided? (That was the point of the naming convention -- right?).
Thanks for your help.
For anyone who has yet to acquire the series, you can get a digital version at a decent price on vudu right now.
I really hate the way YTTV plays another episode/show automatically after one finishes playing. I watch TV in bed all the time and sometimes fall asleep long before I wish to -- when I wake up, I discover that YTTV has been merrily playing shows and sabotaging my watch history. I've complained to YTTV about this but don't expect to see anything done. Has anyone found a workaround for this? I know I can set a sleep-timer on my TV but that's a horrible solution -- It's not that easy to do and I'd have to reset the timer at the end of each show.
The Fox TV show, Fantasy Island recently had a holiday episode which ran in two parts which recorded as both a combination of both episodes and separate recordings of each individual episode. I was watching the combination recording and it had the usual commercials, but a local news event interrupted and superseded the broadcast, so I decided to check the individual episodes. To my surprise, they ran with no commercial interruptions at all. Has anyone else ever seen anything like this?
I see that YouTube TV offers upgrades to both HBO and HBOMax -- each costs the same. Could someone please explain the difference so that I might know which one to choose?
Thank you.
I have a small TCL Roku TV and live in a small assisted-living apartment. I live near people, some of whom go to bed at 7:00pm. I'm generally up until 3-4 am watching TV. So, I keep the volume low and often have trouble understanding dialogue, so I keep closed captioning on all the time. I am tired of the underwhelming sound and suspect that my problems with the dialogue have less to do with aging ears and more to do with unimpressive speakers.
I would love to upgrade the sound but don't know which way to turn. A full surround sound system is out of the question -- the TV is in a small bedroom which would make placement difficult and booming bass isn't going to make me any friends with
I had wondered about this for a long time but was only prodded to ask based upon another question about whether one started watching on the WB or UPN.
If you missed seasons 6 and 7 because UPN wasn't available in your area, what was your reaction? Did you just presume the show was over with The Gift? Did you know that the show was continuing but were dismayed to find that you wouldn't be able to watch it? (That would have hit me pretty hard.)
And if you were in the reverse situation (you didn't have The WB available but did have UPN) and started in season 6 -- what was that like? I would think that would give one a very skewed view of the show.
