Maybe I’m not their target audience anymore. Maybe there’s a bunch of people stoked for this.

Thing is, the most exciting thing about Endgame back in the halcyon days of 2019 was that it was an ending. Not to the MCU, but to the characters that had been dominating pop culture for what felt like forever. It was an opportunity to do something new with Marvel. New characters. New stories. Hell, if they had half a brain in their heads they’d get some new blood at the top of the creative team, too.

I guess they tried. Didn’t take long to see they weren’t interested in anything actually new. You can look at things like The Eternals to see how bafflingly incapable the Feige-led studio was of ma

Having missed the first chance to see Kill Bill in theaters, and an afternoon to spare, I made the plunge yesterday. Tarantino has had himself a bit of a reevaluation in the negative direction in the last half decade or so, and I tend to agree with the sentiment. And on the surface, it seems like Kill Bill would be top of the list of his filmography for vapidity and being derivative.

But theres a manic creativity to Kill Bill that does elevate it more than I remembered. And I think a theater viewing is actually a pretty important component of being able to recognize that.

My most prominent impression after seeing both parts back to back is how much better part one is. There’s a feeling o

Surviving Mars is a bit of a niche game, but chances are if you’re into simulation/colony management games, you’ve at least heard of it.

It’s pretty good. Nothing mind-blowing. But it’s a quality use of the premise of Mars colonization, and well worth the indie price tag.

At least, it was. See, the game was more or less abandoned a year or so ago. That happens too, small game, small studio, life happens. But lately it’s become clear why, and it’s really, really gross.

I don’t have the scoop on the publisher drama, but it’s clear Paradox (the publisher) got their mitts on it, decided to just abandon updates, and now they’ve announced a “relaunch” with no substantive changes.

It’s a 5

Having returned to the game after a while and completed several recent playthroughs with both factions, I’m just a little confused at why ziplines are the way they are. I guess I’m wondering if I’m alone here.

I think the main thing that is making the balance difficult is that all tubeway lines are n to n connections, meaning any tubeway section can be used to access any number of destinations. Whereas ziplines are hard locked to exactly two connections, which can be chined together, but only in continuous chains.

That’s an enormous difference. So big you probably can’t compensate for it adequately just by tweaking numbers like travel speed.

But to make things even more confusing, the o

So right off the bat, my only motivation for typing this out is to voice a perspective I haven't seen voiced here very often. I'm not arguing for the primacy of upcycling, I'm not saying anybody's doing anything wrong, I'm just a little concerned that an unnecessary expert practice is cementing itself in the meta. And I'm the sort of idiot nerd that cares about that sort of thing for this game. I made a post similar to this in defense of nuclear power way back maybe even before 1.0, when even very casual players seemed to be concerning themselves with the marginal UPS advantage of solar power.

To lay down my bonafides in preemptive answer to why anyone should care even a little about my opi

Pro Tip: Alt Mode Button

Suggestion / Idea

Just one of those minuscule things I realized after an embarrassing number of hours. To be fair to me, it's a relatively recent development.

We all love alt mode. If you don't, press alt. You're welcome.

What don't we love? Alt mode turning off every time you alt+tab. Just one of those tiny rage-inducing things that build up over time.

Solution: unbind alt mode from the alt key. I know, blasphemous. But, they added an Alt Mode button to the shortcut section a while back. You can just turn it on there and it will never turn off when you alt+tab.

Enjoy.

So this started for me because my mother gave me one of my dad’s old cameras for Christmas. It is a Cannon AE-1, and it has a Kalimar 35-135mm lens on it.

And a tiny relevant background on me, I got my first DSLR about 6 months ago, and I feel like I’m just now at a point where I could even appreciate a difference between one camera body and another.

Case in point, the very first thing I noticed about the AE-1 is that the viewfinder image is absolutely massive compared to my Rebel T7. Honestly before that moment I never even considered this was a thing that could be different, so that sent me spinning into a whole set of questions I never thought to ask.

And I think I’ve reached a poin

It’s out of character for the game that the process of dropping things to a surface is basically a black box.

For one thing, there really ought to be a checkbox on the landing pad that only allows full drop pods. Yes, you can force this behavior via circuits, but’s it’s weird that there is this exact setting for launching things INTO orbit but the options for configure dropping this are basically zero.

But also, it’s obvious there’s some kind of internal queue for drop pods, and that there is an internal cooldown for how often it can occur, and that this is effected somewhat by how many cargo expanders you have on the platform. But ALL of that is opaque. A UI element that displays all of
