Can a kid currently facing driving charges (including drink-driving) still sit the test and get their learner license once they turn 16?

They're on bail and won't be back in court before their birthday but they and their parent have plans to get the kid in for their license test ASAP.

I work for a relatively small company that's currently not doing well. I've heard rumours about them wanting to change how they pay overtime. Would just like some advice on how they can do this legally (and if I can object to the change).

We all have our regular 40-hour week at our primary site and are paid hourly. For most staff, anything over 40-hours worked here is paid at their normal hourly rate.

We have a second site where we regularly work overtime. Currently most staff are paid 1.5x for any OT worked at the second site.

I'm an anomaly where I get paid 1.5x for all overtime above 40 hours regardless of where it is worked (including at home).

The rumour is that they want to change

Is there anywhere around town that does mozzarella sticks. They don't even have to be that good (and preferably don't cost the earth). Maccas discontinued them and my kid is sad.

Tried some I found at the supermarket but can't figure out how to cook them without all the cheese ending up on the outside. Takeaway is easier.

Looking into getting a community services card. There are different income cutoffs depending on family size.

My family consists of me, my partner, our kid, and their two kids. I'm the main income earner, partner is a SAHP.

Can I include my partner's kids as my family on my application? If so, what do I call my relationship to them? We're not married but I've considered them my step kids for over a decade now. They call me mum. On official forms however I've found that sometimes they count as family and sometimes they don't.

So do they count for a community services card? I don't want to waste time digging out everyone's birth certificates if they don't.

Food safety requirements?

Corporate/Commercial

My workplace is a bit different to most. Without too much detail, we have people stay on site who are technically classed as casual employees. We provide meals for these people. Our primary business is scientific research.

In the past, we have used a catering service who prepared meals offsite and served them on site. We are looking at cutting costs around this.

Are there legally any certifications or qualification requirements if we have our general staff serve hot and cold food prepared off site (by registered food businesses), reheat frozen meals, or things like cut & plate desserts?

Have looked at the MPI tools and thought maybe we'd need to follow National Programme 3, where some pro

My kid saved up and bought himself a starter gaming PC a while ago now. I'm looking to get him something more powerful for his birthday. Where do I go and what would be recommended that will give him decent specs so he's not getting lag on all his games and will still run decent games well in a couple of years when he really hits teenagerdom?

Most games are from his Steam library but he's constantly going on about wanting to "run mods"...whatever that means.

It's been a good few decades since I was into gaming much at all and I don't really know what I'm looking for.

The ODT is reporting an aged care facility in Dunedin with 20 cases of covid. Anyone know which facility? Might need to check up on mum.

I know fireworks are evil and think of the animals and all that crap, but is anyone in the know about if there are any fireworks sales in Dunedin this year? All the usual places are non existent.

The one holiday a year I actually enjoy and I can't participate.

I really just want sparklers for the kids. Can't even get that.

Guy Fawkes

Question

Is anywhere selling fireworks in Dunedin this Guy Fawkes? The Warehouse has stopped and the Hyalite place in South D isn't there anymore.

I just want sparklers for the kids.

So looking at the new traffic light system, a business not requiring vaccination certificates has more restrictions. But - what happens if the business does require vaccine certificates from customers, but one of their staff refuses to get vaccinated? Can they fire the staff member? Do they have to operate as if they didn't require vaccine certificates?

This different system has not been well explained so far.

Vaccination places

Advice Request

I'm seeing reports from Auckland in particular where vaccination centers are giving free stuff away for getting vaccinated. Any in Dunedin doing this? Might help push a few fence-sitters over the line.

I know you can take up to 10 days, but are there any requirements in how it's taken? Can it be taken in half days? Or quarter days?

It's supposed to be to deal with the effects of domestic violence, so I assume it should cover attending counselling or seeing lawyers, the sort of thing that usually only takes an hour or two at a time. Can it be divided up to cover that?

Or even say you usually work 8-hour days but need to reduce to 6-hours for a week or so until you can find good child-care for your kid who is freaking out at the thought of being left with strangers, can you use it then to top to your normal hours?

My elderly mother with dementia has a habit of wandering off and not always remembering how to get back home. Does anyone have suggestions for simple and not too pricey tracking devices we can attach to her so we can find her again?

Preferably something that could be worn as a pendant or even watch, with GPS we can access from a smartphone or PC. Simple is best because the old fella wants to be able to track down his missus when needed too.

Kids start back at school after next week. Recently discovered that the 6-yr old's lunch box was not cleaned out at the end of last year. It's nasty in there. Kid wants a new one.

But, he wants the same kind as his current one. It's a cheap plastic thing with a hinged lid (because god forbid the lid come all the way off) with a big Batman picture on the top.

Seriously, I got it from a local supermarket for about $10. But they don't have them anymore. An this time he wants Marvel heroes on it.

It doesn't help that I live at the bottom of the world, but I can't even find one of these fuckers online. Why can't he just use an old ice cream container like everyone else did when I was a kid?
