So Debian 12 Bookworm will probably be released in a week or so.

How long before Proxmox generally updates to the next release? Perhaps a Proxmox 8?

I'm considering using Proxmox as a base for desktop workstation systems by adding the Plasma/KDE desktop packages, and pretty well disable and ignore the dedicated Proxmox packages. I mainly want to take advantage of the delightful ZFS install procedure, but I don't want to be stuck on Bullseye for a desktop workstation.

I can't figure out where to ask this on the official forum.

Does anyone know why the php-mysql (for php 8.1) is missing?

Bonus question: PHP 8.2 is available in Archlinux so roughly how long before it might show up in Manjaro testing?

I am setting up a local Laravel 9 testing environment using composer and noticed that the mysql extension is not even available at all!

I have 6x 2 TB drives spread across 3 Proxmox nodes. Am I better off using a ZFS mirror pair on each node, or should I format each disk separately as XFS and then join them into a single GlusterFS, or perhaps even a pair of 3x disks each?

What is the best way to handle NPM redirecting to a https://x.x.x.x:8006 IP number?

For instance, Proxmox won't let me log in via the direct https://x.x.x.x:8006 without accepting their default insecure self-signed certificate first and a http port 80 won't work either. I was hoping to avoid this by using NPM to get a certificate for https://pve.mydomain, which works just fine, but then NPM redirects to the internal https://x.x.x.x:8006 site and still requires me to accept the insecure certificate. Waterfox does not even give me the option to accept that insecure certificate.

I'm sure this is a really common

I have a simple 3 node cluster plus PBS on a separate small server. All devices have two nics and I have a dedicated small 5 port 10 GbE unmanaged switch. I'd like to have the Proxmox management gui and all the VMs accessible on the same /24 subnet, but I'd also like all backup traffic for the VMs and the PBS host to go through the 10 GbE switch. All tutorials I've seen so far suggest using VLANs to separate the traffic, but I would rather only the backup and replication traffic to go over a dedicated subnet through the 10 GbE switch, which does not need a gateway route.

Can anyone point to a step-by-step tutorial for this approach or suggest some steps I could take please?

Assuming simple hardware with no HBA or direct disk pass-through, what is the most efficient method to attach to a VM or CT for 1 TB+ storage area using ZFS to be backed up by PBS?

On one test system I can rsync a large video file directly to the host node at 90 MB/s but when I rsync to an Alpine VM with an attached 1 TB drive formatted with ext4 I get barely 30 MB/s.

I could keep testing different scenarios, but surely someone here could offer a suggestion?

Newbie alert! I have a 3 node Ubuntu 22.04 Proxmox VM gluster (10.1) using an additional single 50GB drive per node formatted as ext4. Using native mount from a client provided an up/down speed of about 4 MB/s, so I added nfs-ganesha-gluster (3.5) and the throughput went up to (woopie doo) 11 MB/s on a 1 GHz Ethernet LAN. If it was half of 100 MB/s I'd be happy, but 10 to 20 times slower is not going to be a viable long term option. I'm just starting out, so I have a lot to learn with how to tweak gluster, but for a start, am I really killing throughput using ext4 on the 3 gluster drives instead of xfs?

It's simple enough to add a 2nd disk to the initial BTRFS installation, and more if needed, but how would one go about adding a BOOTABLE 2nd drive in a raid-1 config?

When I use Proxmox (Debian based) to install itself using ZFS, it can add the kernel and OS to ALL the drives in whatever raidz config is chosen. I had a 3 drive Raidz-1 setup on a NAS and pulled two of the drives out to put in my new MinisForum, and it immediately booted up even though the primary original drive was missing. I was very impressed. That can't ever happen with BTRFS because it needs to have a -o degraded flag passed if one drive fails. However, if a 2nd (or more) drive was also bootable, and the first one totall

I just installed Manjaro/KDE on a MinisForum with 2 x 500 GB SSDs, and I am wondering what is the correct procedure to turn the single drive into raid1 across two disks?

I'm using Proxmox Backup Server and finally got around to backing up my 2.3 TB worth of media files. I set up a small LXC container and added a local-zfs subvol of 3 TB. It took 16 hours to copy the 2.3 TB of data into the subvol at 35 Mbs (old HP microserver) and about the same to create a backup of the entire CT+subvol across to PBS. I just did a 2nd backup, and it took 5 hours and puts the poor little old HP microserver under intense load.

No files had changed, so if I was using rsync it would have taken about 2 minutes.

I suspect I am using the wrong strategy to back up large amounts of data, so what would be the best method to do this and maybe take advantage of ZFS send-receive that

At some point I saw a photo of where the DOM is on a TS-x53D, but right now (when I have my device half dismantled) I can't find that image. Can anyone indicate exactly where the DOM module is on the motherboard, please?

I would like to boot directly off the internal drives rather than via USB.

I've read in passing that folks have booted directly off the NVMe SSDs on a QM2 card. Can someone confirm that this may also work with this card please: https://www.qnap.com/en/product/qm2-2p10g1tb

Also, someone else mentioned that they could boot off the internal drives when the DOM was removed (or disconnected). Can anyone verify that this "trick" may allow me to boot directly off my internal drives on a TS-453D?
