I noticed Mandi House (Yemenese?) is coming up at 680 Valencia. This was Smoking Joe's BBQ for the last six months, Petra Mediterranean with a Mitchell's Ice Cream pop-up and belly dancing in 2024, "The Kickback" breakfast and bar in 2023. I'm pretty sure it's been the same owner, and it's never ever succeeded in any way. With every attempt, it's always dead empty inside. For a while, they blamed the Valencia bike lane, but it can't be because Dumpling Story right next door is always bustling. 100% the place is cursed, maybe cursed with bad ownership.
So what other store fronts are cursed?

Today, I discovered my iPhone wouldn't let me install any apps. I would try to download it, it would spin for like 2 minutes, and then ask my for my password. After typing it in (also tried copy paste), it would say "Done". Then it just asks me for my password again and again and again.
I realized it was probably cause I changed my iCloud password a few days ago.
Eventually, I fixed it by signing out of iCloud from Settings > Apple ID > Sign Out.... I kept all the data but just signed out and signed back in. Note: you'll lose everything in your Apple Wallet so you'll need to add all those cards back.
Apparently you should sign out of all your devices and sign back in if you're changi
If you're running into issues checking in through the website, just download the app, continue as guest, add the trip using confirmation number and last name, then check in through the mobile app.
I tried to check into my flight but the website won't let me scroll down to the button that lets you check in. Very silly. I tried many devices and browsers, it's all the same. I called customer support and they were very unhelpful. No check-in via phone. They say I should arrive 3 hours early! Just use the app. It takes 10 minutes but it works.
I've been using YNAB for a few years now with automatic import. Occasionally, something imports really weirdly and this one happens to be pretty funny too.
The transaction was called Digital Account Number. Usually I just look at the transaction on my bank or card app to find more details. However, this time, I had to use a computer and print the transaction in landscape mode to get the full details because the transaction description was sooooo long: 5102_ETM_SMV Henderson NV Digital Account Number XXXXXXXXXXXX0329
Weirdly enough, I also noticed the location was set to Nderson U, Saudi Arabia which instantly raised some red flags to me as I'm based in the US. Because of some wei
There is a feature where you can highlight some text in a message and press "reply". The reply will be prepopulated with a quote of the selected text. However, if that selected text spans more than a single paragraph, then it only quotes the first paragraph. I would like to be able to quote multiple paragraphs.

For context, I started picking up Haskell about a month or two ago. I recently tried to write some code where I was setting x' to x but forgot the ' and I proceeded to enter an infinite loop that I could hardly see.
I was wondering why the compiler didn't warn me about this? Is there a case where this isn't incredibly dumb?
Also, why doesn't this blow the stack? Is it technically a case of tail recursion elimination? Or will it blow the stack and I just didn't run it for long enough?
So I've spent the last three years building myself up to have a fantastic resume for coding in industry. You know, side projects, internships as a software engineer, with a wide breadth of experience in many languages, but still depth in Android/Mobile development. I know how to play the industry game.
However, I've been interning for two years now with lots of side projects and industry has gotten boring. It might just be a phase or my position but I wanted to entertain the thought of pursuing my PhD and/or go for a research position in the next 5 years. If it matters, I think I would want to work on Managed Runtime Environment. I've been reading some papers on the topic and the whole fie
I think the only company that has stood out at me is Apple. I've interviewed with Google, Microsoft, Facebook, etc but Apple is the first company that really surprised me with their process so far.
First, their recruiting process seems incredibly rushed. I submitted my resume through their online portal and got an email reply the next day asking of I was available for a call. A hiring manager said he saw my resume and had a team looking for someone like me. We talked for half an hour to an hour about the position and my experience and where I wanted to be or what I wanted to do. I was set up with three phone interviews the next day and one final phone interview the day after that. There wa
