I will try here as well as GitHub, I would like to get all the MAC addresses and their ports/interfaces; and I'd like this to be fast :)

Does anyone know how to do it with pyaoscx library? Or even directly with the CX REST API?

Method right now means looping over all MAC addresses which is slow.

I suppose I could try to SSH in/use ansible to connect and run show mac-address-table but I'd like to learn and use an API :)

I want to make a copy of if_mib of snmp.yml but with a different "auth.community" setting.

So far I've managed to survive without using the SNMP generator :D

I tried for a while and failed to with some yaml merging to make something like:

if_mib_my_module:
  << : *if_mib
  auth:
    community: "CVE-1999-0517"

So right now I'm planning to:

Does someone have a better solution?

Hello!

I have an OpenLDAP cluster and in the groups we've created we have memberUid and the uid of the member.

So group1:

cn=group1,ou=groups,dc=example,dc=com

has an attribute memberUid with lots of values like:

"username1", "username2", etc. Corresponding to the users' uid attribute.

In https://www.freeipa.org/page/Demo they put the DN and not the uid in the "member" attribute.

I am now trying out bitwarden that seem to really really want DN in the memberAttribute.

Changing existing groups to have DNs instead of UIDs might be possible but that seems like a fair amount of coordination and testing..

I could write some sync/script myself to po

Hey,

maybe I'll try here first :)

Is anybody able to explain what this warning message means?

Googling it seems that for some people this error showed up when they lost some hours when restarting prometheus - this is not the case. No large gap of data recently from what I can tell (very small sample..).

Looking through our logs it seems that we have gotten this error few times before in the last year, but not on the very first time when starting prometheus with a new version binary.

Hello!

Had some issues restoring a ZFS snapshot (a full and then some incrementals after that) and it consistently failed on the first incremental.

There's 200K difference somewhere, does someone have a clue to how to investigate what this 200K is?

Problem is the classical cannot receive incremental stream: destination tank/dataset has been modified\nsince most recent snapshot

Output of the commands.

# zfs diff tank/dataset@zfs-auto-snap_monthly-2020-07-01-0352 tank/dataset@mytag# zfs get written

How would you go about monitoring the network connection between two sites? Neither of them right now run a Prometheus server, it's in the cloud.

I was interested in latency, packet loss, maybe some details about the route packets take like number of hops, stuff like that.

New to Prometheus.

A

I've used ansible and modifies the exporter roles to also run a delegate_to to the Prometheus server to write a target file for service discovery.

A) Is this a good approach?

We have until now never deleted or decommissioned a server but I think the manual work to remove some files for our small env it's acceptable to manually delete files sometimes..

B

I've added some blackbox checks similarly to get http metrics from se servers. Now we also have some servers we don't manage with ansible but we want to get say certificate expiry time.

B) Got any suggestions for the job names? I've just called them blackbox_http_2xx and then blackbox_external ..

Hey :)

I was looking at using the Ticwatch S to track myself when I do orienteering. Does anybody know or could test with a compass if it causes interference? For example if I drag my compass along my phone the needle moves all over the place.

I'd like to

  • Check that all requirements are installed

  • Some vars are set correctly compared to which inventory is used

Before the play starts but after vars are collected. Does anybody know or have an example of such a plug-in? I'd like it to always run, bith with ansible and ansible-playbook commands.

Hello!

A)

Has anybody done a migration from opsview-core to icinga2?

Have a large amount of hosts, service checks, host templates, contacts etc to migrate.. Opsview has an API so theoretically one could grab all from there and send to opsview. Opsview also uses nagios in the backend so one could follow https://docs.icinga.com/icinga2/latest/doc/module/icinga2/chapter/migration

B)

Has anybody integrated icinga2 with IBM servicenow asset management and might have some pointers for things to think about when fetching what to monitor etc from a remote source? (Looking at using Icinga Director for this)
