Darker lighting than in S1?

📺 Season 2 Discussion

Finished watching S02E01 the other day and couldn't help but notice that all shots seem less brightly lit than in S1. Everything is still white of course (hospital) but it feels like they either recorded with lower intensity illumination or they applied some sort of darkening filter over the picture. Maybe they're trying to give the series a more grim tone? I initially thought it maybe was because the first episode is at 7am and it could be dark outside but inside the ER it should still be blindingly white. So I guess I could just be wrong as I haven't seen anyone talking about this

Hello there. I bought my first minisplit system and am now worried that I might have gone way too big and will run into problems (cycling too quickly, etc). The AC is not an inverter type. IT has 11600 BTU cooling capacity.

The room is 6*2.5*2.5 (meters) which multiplied by 50 gives 1875 kwh (aprox 6400 BTU). The room has a window facing East and it gets a lot of sun, and according to some sites I should add around 1000 BTU more. . I live in Argentina and our summers are terrible - the temp outside reaches about 40 C and inside the room around 34 C.

Did I purchase an oversized unit? There are few units with the required BTU here and they were more expensive than the 11k BTU unit I bo

Hi, today i prepared a 320 mM solution of CuSO4 (pentahydrate, if that matters) and it was crystal clear before autoclaving, but after it was completely precipitated/turbid. Any idea why? All solubility curves online show solubility increasing with temperature (unless there is a dropoff after 100 C?) I doubt it's precipitation of the copper or the sulfate with something else since the solution was prepared with distilled water. I'd love to hear your input!

Hey all, I'm trying to understand how the temperature sensing system in one of our lab fermenters works. From dissasembling multiple probes I've gathered that they contain a PT100 sensor with a 4-wire system (the resistance is around 108 ohms at room temp, and the cable has 2 red and 2 black wires. the black wires are connected together (0 ohm) and the red ones as well. I am measuring the said 108 ohm resistance across any combination of red and black wires).

The thing that I don't understand is this: the probes come with a 5 pin connector that plugs into the fermentor. 4 pins are used for the 4 wires in the cable. The 5th pin is connected through a Vishay military metal film resistor to on

Hi all. I used to regularly operate an Operon freeze dryer similar to this:

There's something I always wondered. Freeze dryers (as i understand it) work by freezing the sample while pulling a vacuum so that water sublimates instead of forming ice crystals. However in devices like the one in the picture, the -80 C cooling coil is inside the cabinet and the glass jars where the sample goes are far from it. Furthermore, there is a vacuum line connecting all jars to the inside of the cabinet, and vacuum is an insulator. So how does this device actually freeze the samples? To my

If you've played modded MC in the good old days (1.12) you'll know that while every mod did things a little differently, in general you could say that the visual design of items and machines was pretty spartan, and utilitarian-like. Machines had simple UIs with a couple boxes for input and output, and items were simple 2d sprites with not much fuzz.

However since mods starting getting ported to the newer versions, there has been an apparent unwritten agreement between modders to redesign all their items to have a sort of bubbly, happy, childish even? visual aesthetic. Now of course we support modders and all their effort but man I just can't stand how everything looks nowadays. It's almost

I'm close to finishing my Masters degree in biotech (not actually called a Masters in my country, but anyway, been studying for 6 years) and the last part of the degree requires you to be part of a research lab for around a year, to learn techniques and experiment planning and all that. So far I'm having a wonderful time, but the other day I realized I made a pretty severe experiment-invalidating mistake (forgetting and empty plasmid control, and I couldn't use the no-IPTG control as its replacement since I was expressing a transcriptional regulator, and it just so happens that the few copies generated by leaky expression are enough to alter the phenotype). I work with E coli and my experime
