The Leon Rose Masterclass would have gotten rejected if you tried to do it in 2K.

RIP to the salary fodder that got us here: Bojan Bogdanovic, Svi Mykhailiuk, Cam Reddish, Mamadi Diakite, Charlie Brown Jr., DaQuan Jeffries, Duane Washington Jr., Shake Milton, Ryan Arcidiacono, Ante Tomic, Dalen Terry, and cash considerations.

Also shout out to Kris Murray, Ben Saraf, and Joan Beringer for not making us regret trading those first round picks.

We all know that the Rockets have managed to overcome a lot of injuries, poor roster construction, and a host other issues through the individual brilliance of James Harden, the grit of PJ Tucker, and varying contributions for Capela, CP3, and Eric Gordon.

But this team has basically given a crap ton of time this year to someone who was considered a non-NBA caliber player by a lot of other teams.

They've given minutes this year to:

  • 7 G-Leaguers: House, Clark, Hartenstein, Knight, Chiozza, and Jones, Edwards
  • 6 guys who got waived by at least one team: Rivers, Faried, Melo, MCW, Nunnally, and Qi
  • 1 guy who was given away for a 2nd rounder: Ennis

Those guys have combined to make 69 s

Before Bernie Sanders, it was Ron Paul. Before Ron Paul, it was Dennis Kucinich. Before Dennis Kucinich, it was Howard Dean. Before Howard Dean, it was Ralph Nader. And so on and so forth back to Eugene McCarthy in 1968.

For nearly fifty years, middle-class white college ideologues have latched onto this candidate or that, firmly believing that their political awakening has miraculously coincided with discoveries of Great Truths that escape the Brainwashed Morons that make up the electorate (and which just happen to align perfectly with their own particular socioeconomic interests), and that this Great Man is going to be the one to take the country to the promised land.

I know employees will get paid one more time next week, but I’ve seen a lot of worry about if there is a prolonged shut down and people aren’t getting paychecks.

If you are facing a hardship because of the government shut down, CALL YOUR CREDITORS! The companies that issue your mortgage, credit card, financing plans, etc. are very likely have policies for hardships like this that will waive fees and interest that accrue between paychecks. Some may ask you to verify, others may just give you the deferral. But you’ll never know if you don’t ask!

On another thread, someone said USAA just continued to deposit cash advances in lieu of paychecks. Call your bank and see what their policy is for

I've been seeing a lot of people talk about how the clippers are gearing up to go for a big free agent this summer, most notably LeBron (and all of his friends).

This is not a very likely scenario, barring some true magic from Jerry West.

The NBA salary cap for the 2018-19 season is projected to be $101 million.

Guaranteed Contracts

Right now, the Clippers have 6 players under guaranteed contract for next year for $49 million. Dekker, Evans, and Thornwell combine for $5.5 million, Boban makes $7 million, Tobias $14.8 million, and Danilo $21.6M. Danilo is not going anywhere, and quite honestly I doubt Boban is too. The young guys are decent values, so it doesn't make sense to move t

There was a thread floating around before that asked why we don't use median instead of mean for scoring, to eliminate the outlier effect scoring averages. That lead me to pulling all of the game logs for each All Star to see how consistent they really are.

For each of the major statistical groupings, I calculated the mean, median, max, min, mode, standard deviation, and coefficient of variation. For those of you who fell asleep in stats class, standard deviation tells us how spread out the data set is (bigger = more spread out), CV normalizes that against the average.

I pulled the data set for the major stat category in Basketball Reference: points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, turn

So in case you were like me and saw Daryl Morey going on the hunt for non-guaranteed contracts to trade (likely in return for cash) to make the CP3 trade work, you went looking for a list of non-guaranteed contracts to see who he could acquire. No such list seems to exist.

So I went to Spotrac and pulled the 2017-18 cap hit for every player, and the total contract guarantee for every player. If a player has more money in the cap hit than the contract guarantee (or was not on the guarantee list), they have a non-guarantee of some amount. I did minimal checking on this list but it seems to be accurate.

Anyway, here is the list:
