i have waited for 2 days to be approved in the CSFleak group, but since my situation also involves acquired chiari i hope it's also okay to look for answers here as well.

Started having symptoms in early/mid 2023 that was diagnosed as anxiety for roughly a year before I pushed for brain imaging and they found chiari. Another year or so of waiting for doctors and tests before I got to see a specialist and he noted a brain sag so I'm suspected of having a spinal CSF leak caused by a microdiscectomy I had in 2022.

I never really had terrible positional headaches like most leakers. I get sharp pains at the base of my skull that will radiate. Lately I noticed if I am sitting upright for too lon

TLDR; misdiagnosed with classic chiari, discovered after 3 years that it is pseudo chiari and brain sag. decompression surgery would have made me worse

i've posted on and off in this sub for the last 3 years after getting diagnosed with chiari. i believe one of the last times i posted was about getting my surgery date. well, i did NOT have my surgery

it felt like every step in this process has been hindered in some way. took a year to be diagnosed because i got the typical "you're fat and anxious." once i pressed for brain imaging because i thought i had MS, it turns out i had a 12mm herniation

the neurosurgeon i was referred to off the bat only does a handful of chiari surgeries a year

i've observed something while watching the series on hulu (which noticeably doesn't have all the seasons, but i'll touch on that in a sec) that in the early seasons of this show, it very much felt like genuine documentary showing people truly isolated from society and wanting to change. and for the first 2/3 seasons- there were many more success stories compared to failures.

as i finished the earlier seasons and got to around 5-7, i started to notice a major shift in the "formula" of the show. a ton more people that are more impoverished, less educated, and completely immobile. essentially set up to fail from the start. even when looking at the wiki- which i had to do because there are onl
