Place: North Park; Allison Park, PA

Website: http://www.justashortrun.com/

Strava Activity: https://www.strava.com/activities/2252189254

Goal: None

As we are deep in the belly of race report season, I thought I should contribute my own offering of an update on my monthly race project, which no one outside of my running group has actually heard of or likely cares about. TL;DR I'm running at least one race per month in 2019 to...well, I don't know what my ultimate goal is. It seemed like a good idea at the time.

The Race: Jackpot Ultra Running Festival - 6 Hour

When & Where: February 16, 2019; Henderson, NV

A Goal: 35 miles B Goal: 50K and/or place in age group

Strava Activity: https://www.strava.com/activities/2154029802

Let me preface this by saying: this is not a good race report. This was not a good race. I didn't hit my goals. I didn't accomplish anything jaw-dropping or awe-inspiring. I looked terrible, I felt terrible...I was terrible. But in a half-hearted attempt to not hate myself forever over having a bad race, I felt it was important to write a race report anyway and reflect on the things I did wrong, the lessons I learned, and how

Race: Eagle Up 24 Hour Ultra-Marathon (various distances to choose from)

Date: June 9, 2018

Distance: 50K

Goal: Complete 50K in ~6 hours

Strava Activity: https://www.strava.com/activities/1627535400

This is a very, very late race report but I was initially under the impression that no one would be interested in reading it. I might have been right; I was drinking when someone asked if I had posted one and suggested I write it up. Anyway!

This was my first ultra, having only run a couple half-marathons and a few shorter races (10Ks and one strangely distanced 12K) over the last 2-3 years. EU was chosen as the official Ru

r/dogs•

This may be above the pay grade of r/dogs but I'm very freaked out and confused by my dog suddenly trying to fight everyone in the house.

We adopted Onslow (3, bluetick coonhound) about a year ago. We already had Rose (7, English coonhound). We were told by the shelter that Onslow had been returned to them by his previous family for biting a kid, but that he was a sweet dog and they kind of implied that his previous family didn't treat him well (so nipping a kid sounded normal). He's not well socialized and pretty nervous, but not aggressive.

Rose is definitely the boss. She often takes Onslow toys, bones, etc but only when he puts them down, and he never acted like he cared. He'd find

r/Dogtraining•

Hey, guys. I've read the wiki and linked articles on resource guarding, and I do have a trainer I'll call if I can't figure this one out on my own, but this seems like a weirdly specific issue.

Background: My dog is a ~6 year old coonhound who's had a problem with leash reactivity towards other dogs. She also expressed the usual food guarding when we had another dog, but we fed them in separate rooms and they were able to receive treats together. We've been working for years to fix the reactivity and we've gotten to the point where she can be around other leashed dogs outside our neighborhood and even better, off leash with dogs at the park.

My SO started experimenting with taking her to

So, I'll preface this by saying I never actually intended to run a half this year, because I only just started running properly about a year ago. This time last year I was recovering from too much, too soon (posterior tibial tendonitis) so I greatly lowered my expectations of myself as I built my base and trained for my first race, a 10K in Ma

I know there's already a couple of Cleveland marathon race reports up, but misery loves company. Also, I ran the 10K instead of the half or full. I'm very impressed with myself so here, a race report!
