I've got my original 701SD, and I wore out the original SSD within a year or two by hibernating XP a lot. I've seen a mention somewhere that one of the 900-series SSDs work, but has anyone confirmed if any off-the-shelf SSD (aliexpress is totally fine!) or adaptor works in these units? I do still have the original SSD.

I'd prefer something that's native IDE / SATA, rather than just a USB breakout, but happy to look at my options anyway.

I still have the SSD, but currently booting the machine from an SD card from my years old debian install for shits&giggles.

I'm looking into emulating old IDE / SATA drives, both for convenience's sake (i.e. not having to burn CDs for old computers) and for restoration / maintenance purposes (a particular device of mine has HDD authentication, so only a like for like drive will work).

There's two potential "IDE to SD" converters around that seem to do the trick, but I'm wondering if anyone knows about an SBC or controller that supports "SATA Target Mode"? I'm not sure if it's a standardised thing, but I'm looking for an (S)ATA equivalent to "SCSI Target Mode" in which a device on a SCSI bus acts as a target (disk) rather than an initiator (computer).

This is similar to the USB Gadget mode that some devices supp

Is there a way to use device names that aren't the generic "/dev/sdX" in btrfs filesystem show?

I have a server with a few disk connectivity issues that I'm working on fixing. Problem is that every reboot the disks all get re-labelled.

All of the "normal" persistent device names (/dev/disk/...) are just symlinks to /dev/sdX, so the system just ends up using /dev/sdX to refer to the disk.

I can use the given sdb and then look at lsscsi and /dev/disk/by-path but I'm considering creating single-disk LVM LVs just to have consistent, descriptive labels for the BTRFS disks.

Has anyone seen another approach to solving this?

I'm working with another like-minded individual to upgrade the power supply on a Japan only piece of hardware (the Sony SCPH-10000, launch model PS2) to run on AU / EU voltages.

The other person asked someone to perform this modification for them, and said third party ended up just removing the TVS diodes from the unit, without upgrading anything else.

I'm no SMPS expert, but leaving 150VDC rated 23 year old capacitors in a half-bridge layout is asking for smoke.

I can ID that the existing TVS diodes (Semitec Z2100U) are rated for 100V Breakdown and 144V Clamping, which lines up with half AC (~75VDC) and the existing capacitors (150VDC).

How should I decide the Breakdown and Clamping vol

  • Wanhao Duplicator i3 Mini (actually the Aldi Cocoon Create Model Maker)

    • Klipper firmware installed, running from a PC
    • Print temps between 180-220 tested
    • No heated bed
    • Long bowden extruder
  • Any PLA I've tried (I have some old stuff I've dehydrated, some new PLA and Silk PLA)

  • Cura 5.6 & Octoprint

  • AutoTowersGenerator Cura plugin

The Pink / purple stuff is the new Silk PLA, the Dark blue is New PLA, and the black is the really old stuff, so I'm expecting it to be a bit rough. The temp towers look pretty much the same on all of them.

Prints:

  • Outer walls / surface typically look reasonable / good, unless the roof collapses

Hi Perthicans,

My partner has purchased a poster that's about 8" x 12", which doesn't fit in any of the K-Mart / Big-W / Ikea photo frames we've found. There seems like there might be some options but they're very expensive.

We don't really want to laminate it, and don't have the tools to make the frame ourselves. I'd love to, but already have enough random tools, I don't need to get into woodworking ;).

Thanks!

Been tinkering around with my 7500 for a few days, and would like to both keep the xOSD and use OPL to boot stuff the same way my PS2 with a HDD does, without a memory card.

I've googled around and can't see anything about it, and the FHDB installation option is greyed out in the installers I've tried - has anyone seen it done or managed to do it themselves?
