It seems that the restrictions on interstellar travel are the real issue and danger to humanity. Nothing can happen without the Guild. And the Guild only allows travel that it approves of. And the Guild only approves of travel that will not affect its monopoly on travel.

Because of the ban on 'thinking machines', FTL travel can only be accomplished by a Navigator, thus the monopoly on travel by the Guild. But, was it really not possible to have computers that were 'advanced enough' to make travel safe without the risk of those computers becoming sentient? I mean, after the death of Leto II, how else does humanity begin their great migration to the stars? Surely that didn't depend on t

I have a Sonos AMP and an old sonos speaker that I'm using at my house. I have not had any issues with things disappearing, so my personal experience is maybe not so relevant. But, this friend is building a new home, out of state, and she is a not tech savvy. If there are issues with her system, I will not be able to help and she will be at the mercy of the installer to 'fix' things.

FWIW, the installer is recommending one room to have an Amp, an ARC and a sub and then another room to have an Amp. Will she be ok if she is able to get the installer to commit in writing to providing support free of charge?

My cold brew seems as though it has a little acidity/sourness in it. I have this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C2QK5SD8?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

When I'm making the cold brew, I put the grounds into the filter and then put the filter into the pitcher and then slowly add cold water by pouring it 'through' the pitcher. I'm still pretty new to this, but I figured that if the water wasn't hot, then pouring it through the (course) grinds wouldn't really extract enough to get the bitterness. I understand that the grinds need to be 'wet' when I start as just putting the dry grounds into the pitcher (via the filter) really won't allow for any extraction from the grounds.

So, shoul

When I joined, a member credit was good for something worth up to $100. I even 'bought' a couple of them, assuming that they were actually going to be good for getting something worth $100. I used one of them to get a winter jacket for my wife. Now, this morning a went online to 'cancel' this months credit and I see a message that says I still have 1 member credit good for $80. Is this true or a mistake on the website? How can I buy something that has value of $100 and then they change it to $80? That's like selling me a gift card worth $100 and then arbitrarily changing it so that it is only worth $80. That is illegal in most of the US.

For some reason, new calendar events are not showing up on my watch. If I create an event on the watch, it will show up on my phone as part of my 'Local' calendar. But, if an event exists on my phone (either from syncing an online google calendar or something like that or just creating an event on my phone using the 'Local' calendar), that will never sync to my watch.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on here? Is there something I have to do where I have to somehow sync things on my phone to a Samsung calendar? I'm at a bit of a loss, so any ideas would be appreciated.

I don't really care if they go on sale this weekend, but that would be preferred. I'm looking to spend about $500 or. Music, not gaming. I wear headphones for hours and hours every day, so comfort is important. And, I think a closed back, because I have limitations on how much noise can 'leak' while I'm listening.

Mostly classic rock/metal, but also a fair amount of jazz and acoustic/classical.

The laptop has always been like this. I've done everything that I can find on the internet (updating drivers, running windows update, disable 'Superfetch', disable antivirus, run antivirus, etc.).

Is there anything I can do to just figure out if I have a bad piece of hardware that needs to be replaced or if there really is some solution that involves installing/updating something. When the disk usage spikes to 100%, it becomes basically unusable. There isn't any particular process that shows that it is using all disk access. It just shows a long list of processes that are each using .1MB/s.

Thanks in advance for any help.

My son got fornite installed on his switch. So, now he has a gift card for v-bucks. From what I can tell, we have to log into his epic games account on the epic website to redeem the card. Then, the next time he logs into the game on his switch, the v-bucks will "sync" and be available there. The problem is that he has no idea what his epic games account is. In the settings, you can only see the epic account ID. But, how do I figure out what email address and password were used to create that account in the first place, so that I can log in and redeem the gift card?

Like it says. I can only play games with 8 opponents. I'd like to choose 9, but there is a lock next to option 9. When I go to unlock more tribes, there aren't any more beyond the ones I've already unlocked.

So, I have some shelves in my living room and I'd like to put some small speakers on them. I realize that small bookshelves sound bad. So, I'm thinking that, in an ideal world, I would be able to get something that maybe didn't even have a woofer. But, I would put a sonos sub in the room and that together, I could get some acceptable sound from the speaker + sub.

Is there something like that out there? Part of me is remembering the cubes you used to be able to get from Bang & Olufsen that people would use as surrounds. Not exactly those, but that's kind of where my mind is taking me. Anyone seen anything like that?

edit: Thanks to everyone who replied (and to those who might stil

Just watched "It's a Wonderful Life" last night. After George Bailey receives his 'gift' to know what the world would be like if he never existed, he is walking through downtown 'Pottersville'. At one point, when he is walking by what appears to be the theater of Bedford Falls, the close captioning points out that you can hear 'jazz playing' in the background.

After George comes back to himself and he is running through downtown Bedford Falls, you see that the theater is playing "The Bells of St. Mary's".

Jazz is bad, people, bad...
