I’ve been considering getting into hammock camping recently and am looking for an honest assessment of why I should or should not choose the hammock over the tent and sleeping bag. My quick assessment mostly has to do with weight while backpacking. It seems to me that for warmer weather the hammock setup would be lighter weight and take up less space, but for colder weather I would need extra protection with the hammock which could weigh far more. Just looking for some input in which would reduce my gear. For this I want to assume that cost of new gear is not an issue.
