For those who don't know, offering a draw on your opponents turn is likely to cause annoyance or distraction.

The correct time to offer a draw is after you make your move and before you press the clock so as not to distract your opponent. FIDE article 9 https://rcc.fide.com/article9/

9.1.2.1A player wishing to offer a draw shall do so after having made a move on the chessboard and before pressing his/her clock. An offer at any other time during play is still valid but Article 11.5 must be considered. No conditions can be attached to the offer. In both cases the offer cannot be withdrawn and remains valid until the opponent accepts i

Hi,

I am writing a defence of players seeking reassurances for fair play before and during matches. An example I remember is Nigel Short asking an arbiter to remove his opponent's cap during a match, as he suspected foul play. It's unfortunate I have to quote Short, but does anyone have a link to this incident?

After 30 years playing serious chess I finally have an opening repertoire that I am happy with. You can buy opening repertoire books but you have to find lines that suit you which means mixing and matching between sources.

Chess was the number one thing in my life for many years and I have focussed on opening preparation for a lot of that time just to get a decent game in the middlegame. Having done the intellectual hard work I feel like I can take a step back now and enjoy other things. Wanted to share with you guys because I know you are serious players.

Here are the lines - with White

  1. d4 2. Nf3 3. g3 4. 0-0 5. c4 as per Sielecki's KIS 1.d4 and see this post [https://www.reddit.co

Opening Variation for Danya

Strategy: Openings

In his chessable course, Lawrence Trent calls 1. e4 c6 2. Nc3 d5 3. Qf3 e6 4. d4 dxe4 5. Qxe4 Nf6 6. Qh4 "Naroditsky's pet line" and I think it reflects his style quite well. Maybe the Naroditsky Goldman.
