I built a flushing general mob grinder (2 block height), but nothing is spawning in it. Here are the details and some troubleshooting:
- Java, vanilla SMP, runs Spigot. There are no defined plots for building or spawning, it's a free for all.
- Light level is 0 block/0 sky.
- Killing platform (magma) is at y61, AFK platform is at y187. I have tried every distance from y83 to y187 in 10-block increments. A brown mushroom swamp slime farm with a similar AFK distance functions perfectly. Both AFK spots are dead centered above the grinders.
- Grinder is located in lukewarm ocean biome. There are no caves within spawn reach of the AFK platform, and the rim of the catch basin is spawnproofed.

I want to say that they are cousins as that term can be very vague but encompassing, but they are not related directly by blood. It has been difficult for me to explain with words,
