I was wondering something. Have the last two years of pandemic cancellations lessened your enthusiasm for a return to AN, strengthened it, or left you feeling about the same?

Also, are you nervous about attending a large public event?

I guess I'm wondering because I'm not feeling enthusiastic at all anymore, even though I had 11 great years of attending the con prior to the pandemic, but I'm not sure if that's just because I'm feeling out of practice or for some other reason. I'm not nervous about public gatherings. I'm just not feeling the urge to finish a costume and show up. Maybe I just need to be inspired. :)

Anyway, for all of you who do go, I hope you have a blast!

I wanted to share this commission I did for a DM who hired me to draw his players' characters. He had me do lines only so that the players could colour them in themselves. This was one of my more enjoyable jobs, since all the characters were so wonderfully unusual. I especially enjoyed designing the bard's outfit.

Rak-Kobold Rogue, Elf Ranger, Half-Elf Bard, Dwarf Fighter

Special note: There is a small but significant error in the drawing that both the client and I missed. Can you spot it?

Hey everyone! I've been designing and play-testing a 5e-compatible rules supplement and campaign setting called NearFuture5e Shard City. At its core are the new character classes, which are "spiritual" near-future equivalents of the classic medieval fantasy classes. The cover art here shows you three examples of that:

The modern/sci-fi \"Warrior,\" \"Rogue\" and \"Spellcaster\"

Anyway, the project is now on Kickstarter, for those interested: [https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gaminggeek/nearfuture5e-shard-city-rules-supplement-and

Hello, friends! I've launched a Kickstarter campaign for the creation of NearFuture5e Shard City, a rules supplement and campaign setting for playing dystopian near-future adventures with D&D 5e rules.

Cover art concept featuring the NearFuture5e version of the Warrior, Rogue and Spellcaster - in this case, the Soldier, Prowler and Technologist.

NearFuture5e is a mostly modern genre, but with enough leeway for technological wizardry to make it extra interesting. In short, NearFuture5e imagines a modern world much like our own, but approximately

Just for fun, I've been thinking about how, if it were up to me, I might add an expansion to the game that creates an alternate story path. Because most of what I'm going to write here spoils parts of the main story line, I'm just going to mask nearly all of it with the spoiler tags.

Still, you shouldn't read this unless you've completed the game and all of Judy's quests.

When you do the Heist, >!at the point when T-Bug opens the balcony doors, you also have the option to go to the roof where Saburo's VTOL sits. In the game as it stands, you can only take some loot, but have to go back downstairs afterwards.!<What if, instead, you had the option to >!fly away in the VTOL!<? Yo

Hey everyone,

I want to make a costume of the KSEC Enforcer from the Mirror's Edge 2 video game (reference image below) and I'd like some advice on what material to use for the form-fitting jacket, specifically. It should have some weight and stretch to it, I feel. I was considering stretch twill, but I wanted to know what the experts here thought.

Adventuring Party II Ensemble

In January 2018 I started a new D&D 5th Edition campaign and, as with the previous campaign, I drew my players' characters. The above is the latest motley crew, from left to right:

  • Swaying Palm Tree, Tabaxi Monk (Drunken Master) - I don't draw many "anthro" style characters, so this was a fun challenge.

  • Orick Kneebender, Mountain Dwarf Barbarian - His player portrays him every bit as boisterous as his picture suggests, which was the inspiration for me.

  • Quinten Lockridge, Aasimar Sorcerer - The spin here is that instead of having celestial ancestry, Quinten is

Four D&D Character Illustrations

I wanted to share with the community here a few of the illustration commissions I've worked on, arranged in a fun side-by-side collage.

In this line-up we have a dual-wielding human paladin, a dual-wielding elf fighter, a halfling druid, and a human eldritch knight. (The clients who commissioned the elf fighter and eldritch knight had them tattooed on themselves, which flattered me beyond words.)

These are really fun to work on, since I love interpreting character descriptions. Many thanks to all those who've put their faith in me to visualize thei

Mine occurred in our last session, two weeks ago. The party had made their way into a crypt where they awoke a pair of Mummy Lords. To avoid a TPK, I had designed the encounter so that the second Mummy Lord would only wake up when the first was nearly dead, and perhaps not even, if the first proved too deadly. So it was with growing bewilderment that I watched as this party of five 8th level heroes cut down two CR 15 monsters with surprising ease and collect the fat loot they'd been guarding.

And then I realized that somehow I'd completely overlooked the Legendary Actions in the Mummy Lord stat block, which would have made a big difference in the fight. Yikes.

Now, to salvage things, I

Image: Newly painted miniatures of my D&D party

I’ve recently returned to painting miniatures after a long hiatus, prompted by the request of two of my players who bought HeroForge minis customized for the D&D campaign I’m running and asked if I’d paint them. I’d forgotten how much I enjoyed painting miniatures.

Anyway, these minis represent the player-characters in the current party of the homebrew campaign I’ve been running for nearly two ye
