When creating a fire at my base for outdoor cooking, I typically tuck it into the most wind proof corner I can. I was wondering, however, if I should be creating room for me to stand in the corner, with my back to the base with the fire in front of me in case of predators. This would me less windproofing for the campfire, but at least no predator could come from behind me.

Do I need to worry about this sort of positioning of my character, or can I generally be on the same side of a fire as a predator and be protected?

I’ve never gotten any of the fancy items on interloper like crampons or technical backpack or wool ear wraps. I’d like to do that on my current run, but I feel pressured to do it quickly due to decay.

My understanding is that the technical backpack doesn’t decay, do the crampons?

Do you know roughly how long you have to get the wool ear wraps before they decay to ruined? (I’m sure it’s variable depending on what condition they spawned at). For some reason the decay table on the wiki lists the wool ear wraps but doesn’t give any values.

Thanks

I think it would be amazing if we could assign specific keybinds to individual emotes/voice lines. I would assign them NUM PAD 0-9 and then set up VoiceAttack so that when I say “taunt” or “laugh” or “sorry” or “thanks” etc… my VoiceAttack program will input the specific NUMPAD keybind to perform the voice line in game. I would be so much more emotive and vocal in my matches.

My biggest barrier to using the voice lines and emotes is that it’s clunky between 3 different radial menus and I’m just slow at it and it consumes mental bandwidth to find what I want. There’s no way I’m using them fluently in combat.

Probably will never happen, but a man can dream.

I’m fairly new so forgive me. Sometimes I’ll be fighting a mob and I’ll use a move like thorns or bramblewhatever or the skinning move that poisons the animal and my guy will do the spell and then NOT resume auto-attacking. I’ve also noticed it sometimes when I double tap a healing spell to cast it on myself.

Why is this happening?

Thanks!

I am considering two options. Direct enlisting and retiring from FW on my main each time I want to do FW (with 24h cooldown) versus dedicated FW alt.

Pros of using main is that I would pad his zkillboard and he has the highest skills and I’m already paying for him.

Cons of using main: dedicating his queue to FW stuff. Having to move to the frontline every time I want to do FW (or could set up a jump clone most likely). Trashing standings with some of the empires? Does my FW rank reset every time I re-enlist?

Downside of using an FW alt: killmails are all on a second account, paying for an MCT or a sub on a second account (would want better than alpha skills)

I’m seeing fits for gamma abyssals using Valkyrie drones (explosive) but Inferno missiles (thermal). I understand gamma weather gives a penalty to explosive resistance. Why wouldn’t the missiles and drones be the same damage type?

The only explanation I can think of is that even with the explosive penalty, the enemy still has lower resistances to thermal damage, but it’s close with explosive so it’s better to use explosive drones since they’re faster and so they’re harder to hit?

I’m a new player and playing my first permadeath run.

Would you recommend taking my first free freighter that’s offered or passing on it and waiting to be offered an S class one?

I think I’m limited in my ability to save scum being permadeath? I think some of the methods involve reloading saves.

I have a recurring bug I’ve noticed. I’ll notice that my buff window doesn’t display Regeneration and I had just cast it, yet I’m still regenerating at the correct Hp/tick as if the buff was active. At first I was recasting regen a couple times to get it to show up until I realized it is active, just not displaying in the buff window.

This may be happening with other buffs too, but it’s easiest to recognize with regeneration.

Note, I have noticed this, although not exclusively, while fighting mobs that dispel.

Anyone know what’s going on?

Thanks

Thinning Paints on Wet Palette

Help Needed/New Painter

I have been using a wet palette and realized a few questions I have about how exactly the paint gets thinned.

  1. Does the paint get thinned via the membrane sheet/paper from below? I have been putting a drop of paint and then splaying it out over the membrane with my brush to thin it. Am I simply spreading the paint out or am I thinning it via water from below?

  2. Am I supposed to be adding water to the drop of paint on my palette by dipping my brush in water first? My brush is always damp, but I haven’t been grabbing a drop of water to add to it, just spreading/splaying the paint out on the membrane.

  3. I see some people adding a drop of airbrush medium or Lahmian medium onto thei

When I try to apply black legion contrast paint (mixed vigorously with vortex mixer) over citadel Leadbelcher spray, it seems like the Leadbelcher is repelling the contrast paint? I of course wet my brush with water first but then dry it out pretty well before dipping it in the contrast paint. Is this just how contrast paints behave? Is it the water? Is it the “primer”?

Thanks

On my most recent interloper run I died and I can’t figure out what I did wrong. Maybe you guys can tell me.

I had just killed and butchered a deer, had 3 stink lines, and I was walking back home when I aggro’d a wolf. Luckily I had my torch lit and the wolf approached me, stopped and growled, so I chucked my torch at the ground a few feet in front of him (it did not fly behind him). Instead of the wolf yelping and running away he charged me and killed me.

Is throwing the torch just unreliable? Should I have instead dropped the torch and aimed a stone?
