Hello. I'm looking to stay in Beijing for 7 nights in late march 2026. I was a little confused in finding the right hotel to stay in. Normally I'd use google maps to find out how public transport works from my hotel to attractions but I'm unable to do that for China.

Can anyone help me choose between

  1. The The PuXuan Hotel and Spa
  2. Hotel Éclat Beijing
  3. The Orchid Hotel - Old Town & Drum Tower

All three are roughly in the price range I'm looking for costing me between 800 to 1300 GBP for the stay.

Does anyone have any specific recommendations between the three? How accessible are they for public transport and attractions in general? Are they in walkable areas? And if not, can I get

I'm applying for a tourist visa from London and I don't have a UK passport. A couple of questions

  1. Do we need to submit hotel accommodations for the entire stay? I was planning on applying for a tibet travel permit, but that needs a Chinese visa. So do I just book a refundable stay for the entire trip and amend it later when I get the tibet pass?

  2. How early can I apply? I'm planning on travelling in China from the 26th of March to the 10th of April. I'm also going on a work trip outside the UK from 18th Jan to roughly around the 10th of March. I heard the process is that we submit documents for online verification, which takes anywhere between a few days to three weeks and then we subm

Hello. I'm staying in Tunisia for 5 days and I wanted opinions on where I should stay?

Either

  • The Movenpick Hotel at Gammarth or
  • The Dar El Jeld Hotel in the Medina.

Price isn't a factor as I'm paying with points anyway but I wanted a local opinion of what they recommend?

The considerations are that the Dar El Jeld is nearer the old city center and medina but the Gammarth neighbourhood seems to be nice and upscale as well.

Any thoughts or recommendations? Thanks!

Basically title. I used to be obsessed with Hearthstone and got to legend multiple times and used to average 6 wins per average on arena. I haven't played the game or followed any news for a long time. I thought it'd be fun to see how much my understanding of hearthstone holds after about 6 years. So give me a card and I'll do my best blind guess of how broken or weak it is.

Hello. I had two questions on an upcoming tourist visit to cape town.

  1. I was thinking of staying by Bantry Bay as I found a good deal on accommodation, but I was wondering if the area is safe? Are break-ins a thing to be concerned about?

  2. I had a one night stay planned in the Garden route game lodge, but the lodge quoted almost 10,000ZAR for pick up and drop - which sounds pretty expensive. Is it recommended to rent a car and drive? Is renting a car generally useful in the city? Is finding parking easy? Or Does anyone have recommendations for any other cab agencies in general I can use?

Thanks!

Updating my process and timelines here for reference.

I applied for an ILR on super priority from a Global Talent Visa on the 31st Of Jan with biometrics on the 5th of Feb.

On the 6th of Feb, I get a message from the home office telling me that my application had exceptionally complex issues and that they will try and respond by the 13th of Feb.

I get no response by the 13th. I get a follow up email on the 17th of Feb asking me to email documentation that I'd already uploaded.

I send an email with the attachments and I get a positive response early morning on the 18th.

Timeline:

  • 31st Jan 2025 - Application submitted
  • 5th Feb 2025 - Biometrics Scheduled
  • 6th Feb 2025 - Email

I made an ILR application from a global talent visa on super priority a while ago. The home office responded after 24 hours telling me that my application had exceptionally complex issues and they would try and make a decision by 13/2/2025.

They wrote to me yesterday to me telling me that my application hasn't been considered because of technical issues and that they'll aim to fix it as soon as possible.

Looking it uo online, the prognosis seems grim, with many applicants waiting for many months for a response, with the root cause of many of the technical issues seeming to be with TLSContact not scanning a passport correctly.

My and my partners leave to remain in the UK expires on the 1

Hello. I applied for an ILR from a GTV via super priority. It's been more than 24 hours and I've gotten this from the Home Office

Oh hello. Asking here for help again. I applied for an ILR via super priority and I got this email in response.

"Although we would normally decide your application within 24 hours from the date it was submitted, unfortunately this is not going to be possible in your case. This is because your application raises exceptionally complex issues and we require further time to consider your case thoroughly and reach a decision"

Is this normal? There is no clarification or ask for further documentation.

Im my time spent outside the UK I duplicated a trip. The exact same trip with the exact same days has been double entered. This also pushes the time spent outside the UK past 180 days if taken at face value.

I've completed my biometrics. Should I contact UKVI or just hold tight for them to reach out to me? (If they reach out to me)

Thanks!

Hello,

I'm eligible to apply for an ILR on the 26th of Feb 2025. I'm currently on a global talent visa that expires on the 15th of Feb 2025.

I understand that I can apply for an ILR 28 day before I'm eligible, so I should be fine if I apply on the 29th of Jan I should be fine in theory, but does the fact that my visa expires before I'm eligible to apply for an ILR make a difference?

I paid for legal advice from a solicitor but they went silent after taking payment. Any advice while I sort this out would be amazing. Thank you!
