When I open a git difference panel in VS and scroll down the file a ways... the editor starts scrolling back up. Not all the way to the top or any other discernible pattern.

My keyboard is fine (check in notepad++). Mouse, and wheel, seems fine (works in browsers).

I'm at a loss. This behaviour makes the git changes window considerably less useful. Broken in fact if you need to make any changes (eg. fix something in the righthand panel).

Halp!

If you build a solution and several projects fail you get a bunch of errors... fine looks great. Then if you specifically compile another individual project... the error list does not clear and start over with just the errors from the project specifically being compiled.

The work around is to restart vs. So annoying.

Also the automatic flipping from the "output" tab to the "errors" tab is super annoying. If I specifically activated the output tab... why would anyone automatically change it? Grrrrr

I have converted a .NET framework 4.8 solution from SVN to GIT and even included tags, branches and even deltas. Just wonderful that it's all in git now.

But... I can't get VS to know the solution uses git. VS keeps showing the VisualSvn menus and won't show the git menus.

I cannot uninstall VisualSVN (other stuff uses it still) and will need git and visualsvn to work side by side (no in same solution, just if one solution uses git and another svn).

Any help at all? I've googled and mostly the top answers are not helpful. The .SLN file does not contain and source code bindings. I've deleted the .vs folder and restarted. There are now .svn folders.

I would like to hear whether or not my approach is sound.

I wm using Azure DevOps for git and ci/cd pipelines. The ci/cd pipelines will be how things get build and deployed.

I have several react projects and several dotnet projects. This is the folder structure I've created:

../MyFancyApp
    ./react
        ./reactapp1
        ./reactapp2
        ./reactapp3
    ./dotnet
        ./apiproject
        ./classlibrary
        ./azurefunctionapp
        TheSolution.sln

I have repos for each of the reach apps and 1 repo for all the dotnet stuff.

The intention with the one dotnet repro is so that the pipeline can build the API project and the Function

Is there a rule to flag the size of a parameter list? If not, is that something that can be added easily?

Surely I'm not the only son of a gun that wants to enforce this? Start with the exact maximum number, then in 2 weeks drop it by one. Rinse repeat.

I'm trying to get the connection details for snowflake setup using a private key thingy (no more user id/password). But I keep getting "secretOrPrivateKey must have a value".

My connection file looks like:

[NAME_OF_ACCOUNT]
account = "myazureurl"
authenticator = "snowflake_jwt"
user = "[email protected]"
privateKey = "-----BEGIN RSA PRIVATE KEY-----\nhahah no key
for you...\n-----END RSA PRIVATE KEY-----"

Any suggestions? All my googling shows is how to configure connection via javascript... I can't find anything on how to configure the VSCode extension's authentication.

Lots of examples of how to run the tool to generate a client based on an OpenAPI spec.... but damn'd if I can't find an example of how to use it.

Here's where I'm at (this is in a ReactJS app):

import { Api } from "../../../swaggergen/Api";
import { loginRequest } from "../authConfig";
import { msalInstance } from "../index";

export async function getApiClient() {

    var client = new Api({
        baseUrl: "",
        securityWorker: () => {
            const account = msalInstance.getActiveAccount();
            if (!account) {
                throw Error("No active account! Verify a user has been signed in and setActiveAccount has been called.")

SO I have a POST method that returns a CreateAtAction(..) which outputs a location header that includes the scheme, host name and port.

For example: Location: https://localhost:5000/api

Howver... my API is actually hidden away behing an Azure API Management instance and is running inside/on/under the care of kubernetes.

What I'd like is the CreatedAt(..) to magically know the external scheme, hostname, and port.

Failing that... maybe just return an absolute url?

Anyone have any insight into this?

Using the .net 8 middle works like a treat... sort of?

The throughput is definitely limited to the rate I defined (25 per second). Thank you "token bucket".

But... I was expecting requests over the rate limit to be rejected with a 429 status. But I'm not seeing that at all. It's almost like the connection is accepted but the middleware holds on to it until the rate limiter says "ok".

I was really hoping for a rejection with 429 (this specific API is a mock of a vendor's API that does 429 based rate limiting).

I need to rate limit calls to a geocoding API to N per second.

I'm thinking of using an Azure ServiceBus queue to hold the list of calls to make. Set the number to receive at a time to 1. And in the receiver I will just sleep the requisite amount after each request (eg. if the limit is 50 per second then I should sleep 1/50 of a second (less time spent on the request).

I'm not enamored with this approach because:

  • When not busy, ie. under the rate limit, the code would still be sleeping
  • Sleep? Really? Seems not very elegant.

Thoughts? Help?

I had switched my solution over to Directory.Packages.props a while back and it worked like a charm. One location to set nuget package versions and all projects payed attention to it. For a solution with 40 odd projects it was a winner.

Now to upgrade to .net8!! Download an install the upgrade asisstant and one by bleeding one upgrade each project.

And once I was finished... compile errors so many compile errors.

All complaining about the package version should be set in Directory.Packages.props file.

Yup... the upgrade tool updates package version... but in the .csproj file and not the Directory.Pack

Hey all,

I have a process that reads through a csv file, collects N lines, calls an API passing data extracted from the N lines, and then applying the returned results to the lines, and outputting the updated lines.

Pretty straight forward text processing... except it needs to accumulate a bunch of rows before calling the API and then transforming the rows with the API results.

So my code kind of looks like:

_transformer.ExecuteAsync(
    initialize: context => { ... },
    accumulate: async (context, record) => { ... },
    commit: (context) => { ... }
);

The accumulate lambda is called once pre record, and keeps called until the lambda returns false.

I have a .net core web application project. Pretty basic RazorPages project. It does use typescipt and has compile on save enabled. The razor pages include the specific .js generated by the typescript compile (no module stuff).

Sometimes after making a typescript change and saving it, Visual Studio decides to restart the application over and over and over again. The debug output pane just scrolls and scrolls and scrolls. And it repeats the same long sequence of messages eventually.

Eventually, if I'm patient enough, it finished and I can refresh the page in the browser.

Usually I just give up and restart (stop debug, start debug)... but that's about a 40 second delay.

Does any of the ab
