I just had a proper listen and I think it's one of their strongest albums. It feels like a real comeback after their self-titled, and it's overall a much slicker, consistent and more refined piece of work than Our Love to Admire, Self Titled and Antics in my opinion. There's just something so bittersweet in it, it feels like a real journey of love.

The riffage on this album is spectacular, especially ATRBH, Anywhere and My Desire.

My personal ranking of the tracks (all great):

  1. Tidal Wave - Wow. The key change for the chorus always gets me. Such a frenetic desperation in the chorus, so catchy and smooth. Great bass work too.
  2. All the Rage Back Home - The most 'conventional' so

It's not 'bad' by any means but it had so much more potential.

The beat had a certain raw emotion to it, and I don't feel Trippie + Carti did enough to make the most of it.

Lyrics-wise, Trippie was just ok. The delivery of his verse was at least a bit more energetic compared to Carti but the chorus was weak imo. The guap line was catchy but again, it just doesn't do service to the beat.

Also, "They like Stevie / They can't see me" is a fucking terrible bar. I get the bar refers to his blindness, but I think Trippie forgot Stevie Wonder is also one of the most celebrated musical artists ever. It just feels ignorant. Aside from weak delivery and questionable bars, Trippie's verse was ok
