What are some of the best DIY Christmas Gifts you have given, received, or have knowledge of? I am very handy, but not creative and I want to make personalized Christmas Gifts for a variety of Family members. Inexpensive is good and I'm willing to put in as much work as needed. TIA!
I have a family member with several autoimmune diseases, which causes them to be extremely isolated. Do any of you know of some kind of support groups in the area they can attend to get some social interaction and support. I am also trying to financially support them on a pretty meager salary, so i would really appreciate information on any assistance programs or organizations as well. Thank you and bless you.
I am recovering fairly well from an L5-S1 about 6 months ago, but I am no longer able to sleep on my bed. I get into weird positions that put stress on my back so I've been sleeping on my couch ever since surgery. I think the seatback forces me to sleep on my back, but this particular couch isn't very comfortable. Do I try a different mattress, a different couch, custom build something myself? Any recommendations are welcome.
I just had my initial Post-Op appointment two weeks after surgery and wanted to share an update. The incision site looks good so I don't have to wear a bandage anymore and can return to normal showering, which is all good news. I do still have some nerve pain in my glute, weakness in my calf, and some numbness in the ball of the foot and toes, which she assured me was all normal and would eventually heal and subside. I am up and moving around quite a bit, but still pretty stiff and weak overall.
One thing that concerns me is that they seem very liberal with the rehab compared to everything I have been reading here. I was given no restrictions. She said basically do as much as you can t
I am now a week out from having a right side L5-S1 Microdiscectomy and things are progressing well. Here is a rundown of the first week going from worst to best.
- I couldn't sleep for the first 4 days. I was only able to lay on my stomach with some pillows and a couch cushion propping me up, and I could not sleep in that position. I was very anxious about the pain returning from getting into a bad position and it just wasn't a comfortable sleeping position. I have been able to lay on my unaffected side for the past couple of days and slept for a majority of the past 2 days. Still cannot lay on my back or my affected side. I have been able to sit for short periods over the past coupl
Some people here were asking for updates so here it goes. I am 24 hours post microdiscectomy for a large right side L5-S1 herniation. I've made detailed posts about my history and the process, but the gist of it is that it caused several months of extreme sciatica pain and I've been basically bedridden and completely disabled without much relief from conservative treatment.
Surgery went smooth but I am very nervous about reinjury or re-aggravating the condition so I am being extremely conservative about recovery until my follow up in 2 weeks. I've been laying in bed in positions of comfort and getting up every hour or so to walk around the house. Still have hesitation with urinating and
I want to thank everyone here for the advice and support. I couldn't have navigated this process and made it through these past couple months of torture without y'all.
I've had Sciatica off on on for 15 years and it has progressively gotten worse each time. I've always been told in the past that it would resolve on its own. Nobody would take it seriously. I've had previous episodes where surgery was 100% indicated and necessary, but couldn't get any Healthcare provider to do anything about it.
This current episode has left me completely bedridden for the past 2 months. First visit with PCP was 5 days after excruciating pain began. Minimal treatment and sent me on my way. No follow u
Hey Y'all. I hope you are all feeling well and pain free. If you are in agonizing and unrelenting pain, then I am right there with you. I couldn't find much info in the FAQs or through a search, so I am wondering about the timeline from initial visit through actually undergoing a procedure.
My first occurance of Sciatica was in 2007, about a month after returning from military deployment. No known trauma, but I did fly hundreds of hours in a helicopter with 50 pounds of gear, manually carried Soldiers and there gear out of the field, treated them in very uncomfortable positions for long periods of time, etc. Since then I've gone through 10 episodes, six of which have been in the last
