Hello everyone!
Longtime lurker, but I rarely post. I just want to add my keto experience in here, in case there’s a chance it could encourage someone the way you have all encouraged me in the past.
We went to Disney World for Easter break. Had a great time, but what really hit me was the sheer volume of small victories that I noticed. A few of them were (in no particular order):
-sitting in the airplane seat and my butt not touching EITHER ARMREST -buying a souvenir dress in a size small when I formerly would have bought either a XL or a 2X -all the walking and standing and walking and standing with no foot or ankle pain -swimming in the pool with my family and not wanting to disappear
Hi ladies! It’s been a loooong time since I posted here (daughter is now 4.5 years old!) but now that we’re thinking that it’s time to add a second kid, I’d like some input from a group I know I can trust! This sub COMPLETELY got me through my first pregnancy with stories of support, shared experiences and just plain funny shit, so thank you all for that!!
I live in the Deep South. Like...really deep. Near New Orleans. Climate is pretty much hot and humid almost all the time. First pregnancy, I delivered in January so my biggest and most pregnant months were in the few cold months that we have here, so I never experienced the heat rashes or sleepless nights that I heard some other ladies ta
Today we visited the zoo. Awesome weather, amazing time was had by all. Highlight of the day... Feeding the otters. The keeper is standing there with a plate of chopped up carrots and chopped up fish. My aunt is there with us and brings my 3 year old some chunks of fish and carrot. Hands her the fish and says "This is for you!" So of course, my adventurous little eater (who had earlier in the day sampled some fried crickets they were handing out and loved them!) said "Thank you!" and promptly popped the chunk of raw, slimy, scaly fish into her mouth. I immediately got it out of her mouth but I couldn't stop laughing. Just had to share :)
Just hoping that by chance one of you will tell me
Daughter woke up at midnight and called for me, quickly went back to sleep after one round of 'Twinkle Twinkle little star'. This is normal for her. Then, 45 mins later I hear the cough. You know...the single, loud cough that you just KNOW was accompanied by some debris. Came to her room and she sitting up in a pile of barf saying "Made a big mess, sorry Mama" Which, omg, I just died, poor baby feels bad and is apologizing for making a mess. Anyway get her and the bed stripped down, bathed. She seems to be feeling fine, no fever or chills, so I dress her, out a new sheet and she lays back down. Less than 5 mins later....another barf. Seems to be the last of tonight's supper. Strip her and t
Kid is napping, husband is helping his parents do work at their house, laundry and dishes are washing... I'm sitting in absolute silence. Glorious. Just had to share :)
Seriously. We have one daughter. She just turned two. Why does EVERYONE in my life feel the need to make comments about the choice we have made about the size of our family???
"Oh, poor baby, she'll never have a sibling, she'll miss out on so much "
" Oh, you'll change your mind, just give it time "
"Y'all are such good parents, you NEED another kid!"
And so on and so forth. Ugh. Just had to get that off my chest. I'm sure I'm not the only one, I'm sure at least some of you ladies out there have heard this. I know it goes both ways too. If you have "too many" kids, you're irresponsible and obviously couldn't figure out how to stop having them. eye roll People need to shut their
Hi ladies We were in the ER Tuesday morning around 3 am and diagnosed my daughter (almost two years old) with croup. Awful barking cough, so terrible to watch her gasping for breath. They gave her oral prednisone and two breathing treatments and things seemed fine. Came home, she slept fine, good day all day yesterday with the occasional cough, nothing major. Today, clear snot started creeping in and now she can't breathe thru her nose at all. What I'm looking for is mamas that have had little ones with croup before. Is this just part of the package? Actually while I was typing this her nurse called me and said this seemed like normal symptoms, and I have an appt to check in with her doc t
Hello everyone, I'm new here and I've read through quite a few posts but I have a question about changing the products that I use to something new. I currently use Rodan & Fields Unblemish regimen for acne and post-acne scarring. I have had mostly clear skin my whole life and then BAM during pregnancy and thereafter I had awful cystic acne breakouts around my smile lines and chin area. They were deep, painful pimples and they would last for weeks, and then once finally gone, they left these awful purple marks. I had great success with the Rodan products, but they're very expensive and not safe for pregnancy, which I am planning for this coming summer. My question to you all is....is the
Hey ladies, I brought this question here instead of r/parenting because we all know how lame that sub is and I need some honest answers from ladies I can trust...and that's y'all :) So, we just completed day 3 of the Ferber method of sleep training. For those that don't know, it means allowing your child to cry for short intervals and going in to reassure them, and then making the intervals longer and longer, prompting the child to learn to self soothe. Our daughter is 14 months old, breasted, still nurses at least once a night. We coslept before now, so this is kind of a big shock for her. However, she has been sleeping in her crib in her own room for nap time for months with very little
Hello everyone. I just wanna let you all know how much I love this sub. I actually get really sad when in check in and there aren't any new posts. I like that we can come in and complain, rant and rave, and cuss all we want and no one will judge or leave passive aggressive comments on how we parent our kids. (Alright, maybe someone will, but they'll get what's coming to them...) I come here more than I go to Facebook now, because I really like the discussions on here and I like the feeling of acceptance, no matter how broken or not broken we might be. We all have good days, we all have bad days. I'm glad I can share all of those days with you crazy, broken bitches. Much love, and much respect
Hello all, it's me again, here with another question!! So I ordered a single Alva, to see how I like them before I ordered a bunch if them. I'm pretty sure it's a microfiber insert. My question is...how do I prep just one diaper? Since it's microfiber, can it just throw it in with the mix of others that I have? Thanks everyone!!!
Hello all! I have bed CDing for about 3 weeks now, LO is a year old. She randomly had a rash the other day, from all descriptions it looks like ammonia rash I would guess. It was just kind of all over redness, no raised areas or anything, and it wasn't just in cracks and creases like yeast usually is. She's a chunker, has had yeast before when she was in disposables and was much chunkier. Now that she's thinning out, we haven't had yeast issues much any more. Anyway, just wondering if it's possible to have ammonia issues but without the smell. I mean, her diaper smells like regular pee when it's full, but it doesn't reek....I have to put my nose practically touching the cloth to smell the p
I bought Tide Original powder but got it home and realized it's the HE kind. Is that still ok to use? Thanks!!
Hello ladies! I recently started back to work (boo) and my LO is almost 9 weeks old now. I'm a high school teacher and I'm having a hard time squeezing in time to pump. We only have a 15 minute lunch break and on my lunch duty day I don't even get to pump at lunch. Should I talk to an administrator and ask for someone to cover a portion of a class or two each day? How did you handle pumping during the school day? Thanks so much!
