I've been playing drums in a band for a couple of years, but I'm really not any good and it feels like I'm stagnant. So I want to start doing lessons to improve. Does anyone have suggestions for drum teachers in Melbourne?

Preferably somewhere close to the CBD and preferably somewhere I don't need to bring a kit.

Has anyone ever rented a bike in Bangkok? I'm talking about maybe three weeks so I can go on a tour. Are there any suggestions for decent shops to try? I am not after a quality bike, anything that doesn't fall apart and is relatively comfortable will do.

Long story short (and not really important to my question, so skip if you want), I just finished a three month tour across Europe and booked a return trip to Australia with a one day stop over in Bangkok. Only, when checking in for the flight I discovered that I hadn't booked one day in Bangkok but one month(!). Initially I tried to change the flight, but that turned out to be very complicated and then I started thinking, I don't have any c

The question may sound flippant, but I'm serious. Over summer I rode a bicycle around Europe and spent about a month in the UK, riding all across the country. After about a week or two in the UK I started getting terrible heartburn pretty much daily. I've never had heartburn in my life before, at least that I can remember. But it got pretty bad there.

It stopped literally the day I took the ferry to France and it never returned. So I was wondering if there is anything different with food in the UK that could have caused this? For some additional info, I drank a lot of water too. Each morning I filled up a couple of water bottles for the day. That was just unfiltered tap water. I did the sam

A little bit of background. I was born in Switzerland but haven't lived here for a long time. Whenever I'm in the country and travel by train I use the SBB app to book tickets. Roughly every second time I show my ticket, the conductor also asks me to show them an ID. Does anyone know what the reason behind this is? I pay full price for the ticket, I don't have any discounts. They even ask for ID when I load up the app in front of them, so it's not like I could be showing them a screenshot of a QR code.

I'm heading to John O'Groats to start a bike trip this week. The train from Inverness to Thurso is not running at the moment due to some track work. There is a replacement bus running, but does anyone know if it's possible to transport a bike on this bus? The Scotrail webpage doesn't have any info.

Bikes on UK trains

Trip Planning

I know this question has been asked before but it seems that the situation with bikes on UK trains is constantly changing.

I'm planning on doing a trip across Europe in mid-year, starting at the top of Scotland. Ideally I'd like to get to Scotland by train because I will already have a Eurail ticket. But in the UK things seem to get very complicated. Stupidly when the trains in the UK were privatised, the network was split up and sold as individual parts, so now there are lots of semi-independent regional services, all with their own sets of rules and regulations.

Has anyone done a London to Inverness (or Thurso) trip with a bike recently and if so, what was it like? Did you need to book a

Ok, first up, I have seen doctors and am not just doing a "Doctor Google" here. But I've been unable to track down what's causing this so far, so I want to check if someone else has experienced something similar.

I've been running regularly for over 20 years now. This used to mean just doing 3-5km a week, but about 5 or 6 years ago I ramped this up to doing about 20-25km each week, usually that meant a 10km and a couple of 3 and 5km runs each week. During that time I also did a marathon and a half marathon. Then in 2024 I decided to do one last marathon (usually I can't dedicate enough time to train for it properly but had a window in 2024). At the time I was 58 so I didn't think I'd ever d

This was a huge hit all over Europe and Australia and is an absolute classic there to this day. Although that is true for a lot of other songs, these are usually Euro dance productions that have never really found a market in the US. But Teardrops is by an American band, the production and song sounds very American and is deeply rooted in US R&B and soul. It's also just flat out amazing and still sounds great now. I am absolutely puzzled that this never even made the Billboard top 100.
