Don't think this is even that controversial nowadays, but Flo Jo was quite clearly roided out of her mind in '88, and with every World Championship and Olympics that her abomination of a world record in both the 100m and 200m aren't disavowed they become more and more of an embarrassment to the sport.

Other world records are perhaps equally as obvious, but none hold the same cache and thus aren't as much of an embarrassment to the sport.

They need to go, and the sport needs to do its best to start over. Change my view.

  1. ... the "trust and believe in your friends and stick with them and support them through any adversity, no matter how severe" movie or tv series from Harry Potter....at least in the visual media form, didn't read the HP books. The intra-kid relationships and teamwork are just excellent.

  2. ...the "I would have gotten away with it, if it hadn't been for you darn kids" tv series from Scooby Doo. The stakes/threats are so well set up and the ways the kids find to come together, execute their plans and save the day are so well done.

Watching the show with my oldest has been a true pleasure, and I'm truly impressed with how they've executed the show on these two points.

I'm tripping up a bit at a certain point. At the rescaling boundary....the universe is ultimately all energy, right. So, spacetime is......

1). Meaningless until the energy c-2's itself back into mass somehow. 2). Blips totally out of existence when the last proton decays and/or/what/and/sure was "degrading" or "collapsing"....or something for a long spacetime as the last of the matter was vanishing. 3). Other.

So, what is the theory claiming happens/is happening to space-time as the universe is approaching the conformal rescaling point? Is spacetime just not a thing and is the become if its being not a thing THE THING that allows for the "singularity"? Is it the equivalent within real exi

Came here a few years ago when the first woman won it, and....crickets. Sub members also didn't seem to know who Jennifer Doudna was.

Anyway, Ukrainian number theorist Maryna Viazovska just won a Fields Medal, which basically puts her in a realm of accomplishment in endeavors of intelligence populated by very, VERY few people.

Could be a good opportunity for those with XX to investigate and reflect on this accomplishment, maybe put it into perspective alongside Lise Meitner's career. Who knows...new eyes are only a discussion away. So, who's your favorite Fields Medal winner?

I'd say it's only half as everything as the best Pixar movie in whatever category of everything you're looking at, but that still leaves it a comfortable 60% better than most dreck that's churned out of the reconstituted IP sector of Hollywood.

A little new perspective, a little catharsis, very upfront about the premise thereby setting expectations nicely, solid characters and good twist-development of the main character, good establishment of stakes and good payoff.

I liked it.

Never seen it at a casino, obviously, but I'd always assumed it was a semi well known part of home game poker, and yes, I know you can just throw villain a chip or two to show their hand when you fold, but they can say no. Anyway, we did it at my workplace games during college. Hello, 12th South poker league!

With spread-eagleing, they can't say no, but they get a bump...usually.

Spread-eagleing works as follows.....

Villain bets.
Hero folds and announces spread eagle.
Hero puts 3bb in a side pot for the next hand.
Villain side pockets their two cards from that hand.
Next hand is dealt.
If villain wins the next pot, they don't have to show.
If previous hand's hero wins

So, I promised my oldest I'd do this with my last truck if I bought one that didn't yet have the spray-on bedliner, but most all the ones with the off road package also already had it. Anyway, got the truck totalled by an impaired driver in April, and it's taken this long to find a suitable replacement. So, to "support uncle David"...not actually her uncle but rather my wife's gay boyfriend...and also just because there's a 10:2::X:Y chromosome ratio in the house, I'll be getting a RAINBOW SPRAY ON BED LINER one way or another.

DIY, options abound, but I'm not confident in my steady-hand/artistic skills. So, I'd like to find a shop that does Weather Tech, LineX or other national brand.

tldr: "Need" to buy a Tundra, but I'm striking out on the 2-3 per week I can locate that aren't already bought. Need a way to search more locations quickly. Can fly to pick it up. Need national search.

Usual sites are missing stuff I know dealers have coming in or already on the lot. Toyota.com gives me limited range. I've been going zip code by zip to p!aces I can fly cheaply or have someone pick it up for me, but it's a grueling process.

Variable oil pump belt moved or chained. Looks like more horsepower and better emissions and better fuel economy...allegedly.

New transmission rated for high [meaning 627] 600ftlbs....hybrid diesel? Probably not....but maybe....

Seems like the new Tahoes wouldn't fit the LM2. Maybe it's just a simplish reconfiguration.

Thoughts?

Been trying to put it together in my head.

If the golden cylinder bumps up by the gain in efficiency possible from ducted fuel injection, you'd be just over 4L in a 6cyl, with V8s at 5.2L. Doesn't seem like that would get you to current performance of the 6.7Ls. So, light hybrids would be needed and make sense, unless you just overpower the cylinders at the expense of efficiency.

In any case, it would seem like new engines are coming sooner rather than later.

What are people's feelings on what's likely to be next? First?

Seems pretty obvious that v12s in the 7.8-10L range with a hybrid component would be coming at some point.

Does anyone know if ducted fuel injection would substantially increase the optimal cylinder size for diesel engines?

I'd assumed the matching of the golden cylinder between gas and diesel was due to inefficient combustion at low temperatures and loss to heat at high temperatures.

For anyone who follows this, would ducted fuel injection likely make a 3.5L-4.0L iv6 engine closer to optimal for diesel than a 3.0L iv6, since we're assuming a more efficient burn.

This would hopefully lead to my dream truck...something like a 3.7L diesel hybrid 2500 with 500hp, 800ftlbs and 30mpg that could tow 20klbs.
