My wife and I live fairly comfortably, but certainly not rich or wealthy. I can cover our mortgage and major bills with my salary but it would generally only leave a little bit extra every month for savings. We have some savings we can dip into if needed for anything major.

Much of this comfort comes because we had our son relatively late in life. I'm in my 40s and my wife is about to be and our careers are fairly well established.

Basically my wife wants to take the year off to help support my son entering kindergarten. He's generally very active and doesn't follow instructions particularly well and lacks focus, so certainly some extra attention might be helpful. I do have thoughts tha

My wife turns into a different person if she thinks even for a second that I'm sick.

Every other day she's fine for me to watch and play with our son while she prepares meals or hangs out on her phone, or for me to feed him, brush his teeth, toilet watch, etc.

If I cough she thinks I've got Ebola, gets nervous and wants to do it all herself while I just kinda sit around.

If I actually am sick she again insists to do it all herself while also glaring at me if I go near him.

I get frustrated for a number of reasons, not the least of which I think it's generally fine to get sick every now and again. It's not like we're not able to deal with it too... he's in daycare after all and we know

Hey there dad's,

My son is a November bday, and where I reside if a kid's 5th birthday is before Dec 31 they typically enrol in kindergarten.

I'm wondering if anyone with a November or December kid have any experience either but waiting a year so they're not the youngest in the grade, or waiting a year and having them essentially be the oldest.

I'd say his language and motor skills are sufficient for him to do okay in September. He's still quite stubborn about #2s but we're still working on it.

The thing I certainly want to avoid is having him go through kinder, then have him repeat while the friends he's made move on to Grade 1. Our thought is to enrol him but if he's struggling after

Hi all! I'm fairly new to immich and love it, but I was wondering if there's a general impression on when the next release will be published. Looking at the recent commits in GitHub there's a couple features I'm eager to try.

thanks!

I'm curious, with all the complaints around snow clearing this year, is Sherwood Park or St. Albert experiencing the same issues?

I understand these municipalities have higher taxes and I'm wondering if that has any immediate impact on these types of core services.

For some background, I'm doing okay. Wife, kid, and stable income. Generally quite happy.

I have been thinking of late though that I might benefit from going to therapy. Really a lot of what's prompting this is around issues with my wife, but I'm sure I have some issues to sort out as well. I won't go into specifics...that's what psyc would he foee but wanted to hear some feedback, positive or negative, from people who've gone to therapy.

Also just note that I debated between couples therapy and my own solo sessions and I thought to get my own first to get some tools on how to communicate better and maybe dig into what's upsetting me, before I eventually bring her in.

Thanks!

Hi all,

I'm looking for a Smart Thermostat that will allow me to set a specific sensor to be used during different periods of the day. Basically we want to set the temperature based on our toddler's bedroom during the evening but set it based on the rest of the house during the day.

We have one furnace/ac. I have home assistant but do not currently have a homekit setup.

I was lucky enough to be outside with my little one around 11 today when a military Helicopter did some loops around us in our neighborhood. Does anyone know where this kind of activity is posted so that we can try to catch it again next time?

Currently i have frigate running on an i5 6500 and I'm wanting to set up Opnsense for my home network.

I initially just thought to get an N100 from AliExpress to run Opnsense on it, but I'm wondering if I have the ability to use Proxmox instead and run both Opnsense and Frigate on it, so I can get rid of the 6500.

Alternatively would it be advisable to just buy a new NIC for my i5 and and maybe a bit for ram and run proxmox on it instead of getting an N100?

Network is 1Gbps, fairly light network usage. May dabble in Wireguard on Opnsense. Frigate generally has 4 or 5 cameras.

Any tips or help would be really appreciated!
