Let's rock out some seven shot Saturday fun. The Smith 242. It's essentially a hilariously oversized Centennial. It's a L frame 7 shot 38 revolver with a Scandium frame and Ti cylinder. 20 couple years ago Smith made them for about a year with a total production run of in the range of 1600-2000. The most directly comparable model is the venerable 12. The 242 is a hair larger being L instead of K, a 2.5" vs 2" barrel and has a 7th round on tap. Comparing the weights of the two:
242
18 5/8oz unloaded
22oz loaded
12
19 1/2oz unloaded
22 1/2oz loaded

Once I got it home I cleaned the internals out. It was dry, dirty, and likely hadn't seen any love since it left the factory. I al

7 shots on the 7th day. I've got this 386 set up how I'm going to use it. This has long been one of my "grail" revolvers. Years ago before I got it from my friend he sent it to Smith for an action job. The DA pull is is quite fantastic.

Mods to it... Things which needed to happen were:

1. Hamre Forge grips

2. Lock delete

3. Extended firing pin

4. Hammer bob

5. Optic

The grips dropped on nicely as you'd expect with anything from Ryan. The lock delete and extended firing pin came from TK and were easy drop in parts. The hammer I bobbed and refinished myself. The optic is a holosun 507k, mounted with an optic plate from Checkerboard Creek. The size, height over bore and longitudinal

Revolverfest final prep

I'm doing my final prep for revolverfest this weekend. These groups were shot at 10 yards with the 38 ammo I'll be using. I got a little lazy with the trigger on the pre-10. Anyone here gonna be there?

Rocked my 19 Carry Comp today taking the kiddos to a local park. Since it's national knife day or some such also pictured are the knife related things I had on me. 19 has prototype Hamre Forge Spegel Extended boots, a JP optics plate, a Dawson front to function as a BUIS with the integral in the dot, and my carry load is 135gr 357 short barrel Gold Dots. Knife related stuff is a prototype Bark River Gunny Folder LT in Magnacut and a Zulu Bravo Nocturne in M4/416 san mai. Both are wearing 80's camo carbon scales. The non knife thing is a FLC Knives GOMT No6 NPT in CU.

Some wheelgun Wednesday action in the rain. My no dash 60 wearing Hamre Fuzzy combats and loaded with High Desert wadcutters. OG LRN in the strip.

Wheelgun Wednesday!

For wheelgun Wednesday my 442 pro. It's the working wheelgun I've had the longest. It has been my "don't want to carry a gun" gun for years. It's been with me running, lifting, swimming, lounging, in NPEs, and until I got a 342Ti it was my backup at work. It's had a couple thousand live rounds through it and likely 10k+ times it's been dry pressed. It's currently wearing Hamre Forge Spegel hooks and loaded with High Desert wadcutters. Don't mind my thumb, I slipped with a rebound slide tool doing a frame strip and clean on it. 😅

Six gun Saturday action. Square butt says whaaaa? Giving square butt Hamre Forge Spegel extended boots a go on my 10-5.

Six gun Saturday

Sunday snubbies. Steel J vs Aluminum K. They weigh essentially the same. I find it interesting with Hamre Yaraks on the J the shooting experience between the two is nearly identical aside from a 5 vs 6 round capacity. I wonder if Smith will ever bring back the model 12 or an equivalent.

Snubby Sunday

Ryan Hamre has spoiled me. He's doing great things for the industry. This 317 is hilariously light. It seriously feels like a toy it's so light. I had Fuzzies on it and it weighed 11 1/8 oz unloaded. With the double cut Spegels installed it's 11 1/8 oz loaded with 8 rounds of Punch. So much grin inducing happens with this little gun.

317 with double cut Spegels

I showed this to a friend and to paraphrase what he said: someone is going to get yeeted by the spirit of America. Gotta have fun with it. This is a no dash 60 with Hamre Fuzzies and Howies hockey tape. The knife is a custom made by Daniel Szugyi.

Degenerate things happening. Interesting considerations with the JP Enterprises Jpoint mount. The recoil bosses measure 0.0350" tall and the holes for bosses in the 507k are 0.300" deep . Don't be afraid to get a file out and make stuff fit! The grips are prototype Spegel extended boots from Hamre Forge.

19 Carry Comp mods

A story in photos of bobbing the hammer on a new to me 19 Carry Comp. It turned out well.

Snubby Saturday hammer bob

This 60 with Hamre Fuzzies is such a vibe. The knife is a prototype BRK Gunny Folder LT.

No dash 60

I've collected these over the years. Top to bottom: 60, 442 pro, 342Ti, 36 nickle. All shoot well. They have served as fun guns, backups, bumming around, and when I generally don't want to have a gun on me. All are wearing a flavor of Hamre Forge grips.
