The intersections at my kids' school in South Tacoma have yield signs east-west and nothing north-south. I can't tell you how many times I've been going north or south and someone comes the other way and just blows through the yield sign expecting me to stop for them. Even school bus drivers.
Setting aside for a moment how aggravating it is that no one else in my neighborhood seems to know what a yield sign means, I don't understand why the city didn't just put in stop signs.
My kids and I have narrowly avoided getting hit multiple times—walking, biking, and driving—and I feel like it's only a matter of time before something tragic happens. The other school in my neighborhood has the
I had it checked out and the stones are genuine so I thought someone might be missing it. If you lost an earring on the 700 block of Pacific Ave, let me know and I'll get it back to you.
A lot of totally decent mechanics just don't want to work on old vehicles and I can't say I blame them. If you know of someone who specifically deals with old trucks, I'd love to hear about it.
In case you're curious, I'm trying to replace the engine on a 1980 Chevy LUV. I don't have time to root around in a junk yard so I'd prefer the mechanic to source one. Just looking for a rebuilt 1.8 liter, not trying to cram a small-block in there.
I just saw I-5 southbound is completely blocked just before the Delin overpass. There must have been a dozen sheriff and highway patrol SUVs across all lanes. There was one small SUV a couple car lengths ahead of them in the middle lane. There were no other emergency vehicles, at least when I saw it. Nothing on Twitter for TPD or PC Sheriff.
What's different? What's stayed the same? What are the major concerns in 2122?
This is a long shot but have you ever seen video of the collapse that no one else has seen? Like an old film reel in grandma's attic? I'm piecing together a story about an 8mm film reel showing the collapse from a "new" angle and I have reason to believe it's a duplicate. I've seen all the other known footage and this is different. It was found at an estate sale, in case you're curious.
This is a long shot but history has a tendency to sit quietly in Tacoma and if you've seen something like it, I'd love to hear about it.

Deja Vu shut down in 2020 and as far as I know, that was the closest proper strip club to Tacoma. I figure there must be some kind of restrictive legislation if not an outright ban.
Just to be clear, I'm not looking for suggestions of where to go, just curious why there aren't any.
I'm looking for some non-fancy wood bits to use in the garden. I figure with all the lumber mills around here, someone must have a system for getting rid of odds and ends.
Aliens, mind control waves, what's the craziest stuff you've heard?
Has anyone else ever noticed the @ tacoma Instagram account? Someone nabbed it less than a month after Instagram launched back in 2010, posted one picture, and it's been inactive since.
I'm working on a story about it and I'd love to collect some fan fictions to go along with the one post. What story does the picture tell you? What questions can you ask or answer about it? I'm looking for some drama, some humor, a deepening of the mystery, poetry, whatever.
