has anybody here done a native aquarium? as in using only plants and livestock that are native to your region? i would love to see/hear about them, especially north american tanks since that is where i live. it seems like a really fun experiment and something i would like to do in the future when i have the capacity for it.
wondering if anybody here is in seattle and knows of any discords or other groups that are specific to hobbyists in and around seattle. i would like to buy more plants etc from other hobbyists instead of stores, and i feel like r/aquaswap is just too big considering i don't really want to ship things. where do the locals hang out?
i have this light on a newly planted 20 long. It has a 24-hour cycle setting, which would allow me to define 5 different lighting periods. Presumably this would look like a soft morning light, a bright afternoon, a soft evening, a "moonlight" setting, and a dark period. Wondering if anybody else has a light cycle like this, and if so, what are your chosen settings?
have been thinking about adding ghost shrimp to our 20gal but have heard shrimp will sometimes jump or climb from tanks. our tank has a rim but no lid, plus an hob filter which I've heard shrimp will sometimes climb. how worried should i be? will extra plants and hiding spots keep the shrimp from searching for new waters? the only other tankmates they would have for the time being is a small school of pristellas, so hopefully nothing too intimidating for them..
