Shift4 (FOUR) is yet another cheap payments company.

By my calculations (assuming preferreds convert in 2028 at full quantity due to share price being < $81), FOUR is currently at 7.7X EV/2026E EBITDA. For comparison, PYPL is about 9X on the same metric and seems to be pretty popular around here. Debt is substantial but seems to be manageable.

Meanwhile the founder/CEO bought shares last month at 13% higher prices than current.

Overall, payments seems like an uncertain place to be, but this seems rather cheap and with an intriguing signal from management. Any other viewpoints on FOUR?

1. Summary

Weave Communications stock has fallen dramatically along with most of the SaaS world, but its moat has definite strengths due to tie-in with critical customer business functionality and hardware leasing/integration. Further, it appears to benefit from AI as much as it is threatened by it.
Currently trading around 1X enterprise value/2026E revenue while growing double digits, it has an underappreciated tailwind due to a new ADA partnership.
I expect the stock to rise from here over time based on revenue growth and modest multiple expansion paired with somewhat more disciplined capital alloca

Overview:
Tripadvisor has been a perpetual value trap for years, but now the company has the structure and valuation to provide a large margin of safety even expecting continued decay in the headline brand. My DCF base case is $17.2 and sum-of-the-parts analysis base case is $23.7 vs. the current price of $9.33, implying 80-150% upside.

Qualitative:
TRIP owns and operates the largest travel guidance platform. Key assets are:

  1. Its hotels/other booking platform, which is still a popular place for people to plan their vacations. However its traffic has been decreasing, mostly because Google is handling more hotel-related queries on its own. ~40% of revenue.
  2. Its experiences b

Another investor posted about Accelerant Holdings (ARX) at Value Investors Club in January. It's now available to read for anyone that signs up: https://valueinvestorsclub.com/idea/ACCELERANT_HOLDINGS/7385578837#description. Since the original VIC post, ARX has declined 25%. However, I believe recent news shows the bull case in the article is coming to fruition.

MELI thoughts?

Discussion

I've been looking to start a position in MELI because I think it's a long-term winner. Yesterday should have been a doozy of a day for MELI but the stock was down "only" 3.5%.

* Amazon announced 15-minute grocery delivery in Brazil and reiterated that it's one of their top countries for new investments. Brazil is MELI's #1 market.

* SE announced earnings and its stock dropped 16.5%. Shopee is another important competitor to MELI and identifies Brazil as a core market. The issues with SE's earnings is that the cost of competing has risen (big jump in operating expenses), and higher credit losses.

I expect MELI to defend its business at the cost of near-term profitability. My main takeaw

I am still getting used to the format, but I felt like this was a pretty strong ninjas deck. It has quite a few premium ninjas and a good amount of interaction. Any tips, or was it really just bad luck that I only got to do the ninja thing in one game?

Deck on 17Lands:

Golos + Field both showed up in pack 3 pick 5, so I went with Golos and Field wheeled. As a result, both are in the deck but it's more of a Simic ramp deck that happens to have Golos+Field in it along with just enough land types to be worth it.

So far I've been playing with 43 cards to get a feel for which cards are playing better. I was thinking of cutting [[Fatal Push]], [[Sprint // Mind]], and 1 swamp to get to 40. Thoughts?

One thing I have figured out is that Arena Cube is a great environment for Clone Crafter. I always get somet

Traditional draft:

https://www.17lands.com/draft/267b71151ac84bfb9615918835652842

It went 1-2 but when I drafted the deck it looked really strong to me. Gisa isn't really a bomb (kind of an awkward card) but I had two copies so I leaned in with five ways to destroy creatures in addition to some exile effects I had. On top of that, the creature suite looked fairly strong. Is this random chance getting me, or does this deck have some weaknessses I should be shoring up? I have had much less success in MID than in any previous draft format and at some point it can't just be bad luck.

This is my first time actually making a Silverquill deck and I got passed two late board wipes. Should I play them? Any other changes I should make? Is it worth getting a third Star Pupil in there?

We are nearing the end of the first week of historic shakeup. It seems to me that they nailed the week-one ban list because the meta is quite open and there are all sorts of decks people are trying out.

Nonetheless, a further shakeup is coming in a couple of days. What cards would people like to see banned?

For my part, I'd like to see all of the week-one bans stay in place, and also ban:

  • Nissa, Who Shakes the World (this is probably the strongest card not yet banned)
  • Yorion (it's showing up a bit too often and we all deserve a break from it I think)

Not sure on Sultai Ultimatum. Something should be banned from that deck. Maybe just Growth Spiral, or maybe just take out Emergent Ulti

I may have stuck with my elves payoffs for too long and I even suspect there was a Golgari elves drafter at the other end of the table (I saw no Haralds or even Mentors) so my pool is a lot stranger than a typical elves build. However, I do still have Tyvar and Harald Unites the Elves so it seems like there will be chances to win games anyways. Beyond that there are go-wide payoffs but without cards like Mentor I don't know how wide I can get. I'd appreciate any suggestions. A second Struggle, Snakeskin Veil, and a third Koma's Faithful all seem like viable options.

I'm glad I listened to Marshall's discussion on the Orzhov second-spell deck. I had never drafted it before because I was concerned about running out of steam (i.e., you might cast two spells once or twice the whole game and then peter out just as all the snow decks start dropping bombs). Just a day or two after I listed to the last LR, I queued premier draft and I saw a pick-2 Clarion Spirit and a pick-3 Clarion Spirit followed by a pick-4 Firja and I decided to give it a shot, with a focus on finding ways to push through damage after the initial onslaught.

Goldmaw Champion was pretty key. He was often tapping down early Packmates. Infernal Pet was mediocre and if I had another reasonable

I'm sure everyone on this sub has seen GME. If you haven't, it's important for all shorts and prospective shorts to review it.

Lessons for everyone on here:

  • Crowded shorts are dangerous for shorts. Shorts as a % of float were too high. Near the end of speculative periods in the market, these are the exact type of stocks that get squeezed.
  • As a short, you always have to have a stop loss. Longs don't if they are investing not trading and are comfortable with the company fundamentals - it's not like Warren has stop losses on his positions. But shorts need protection in case something crazy happens.

That said, there's a certain pattern to this type of squeeze - open strongly higher after

Are there other places on Reddit where people discuss shorting stocks and short ideas more actively?

Personally I see indicators suggesting that the market is really frothy right now and I am interested in some hedging at a minimum. My issue is that I see so many overvalued companies and so many companies whose prospects are really just not that bright that I could use some more ideas to help narrow down my choices.

My recent shorts were MRNA and TSLA but have been opportunistic so far and I haven't held the position for very long. EAT and ZM I am investigating.

Thoughts on the best build for this deck? This is Premier draft Bo1. I started out with Felidar Retreat P1P1 and got passed Tazri. I assumed that the player before me picked Roost of Drakes and indeed, blue was quite closed and white remained open. I didn't commit to my second color for a while, but eventually green proved to be open also.

I see three interesting thrusts here:

  • The landfall theme seems fairly strong. Felidar Retreat and Scute Swarm seem like really premium landfall payoffs, and Murasa Rootgrazer and Kazandu Mammoth fit quite well. Prowling Felidar and Makindi Ox seem solid in a dedicated landfall deck. 2X Reclaim the Wastes can ensure land drops.
  • The party theme ended u
