Having our first baby in two weeks, more or less…The gender is a surprise!

If it is a boy we are set on the name but we are really struggling to decide on which is the best girl name.

Can you help us name nerds? Our last name starts with “Ch” sound and find first names ending in “y”/“ie” sound the best. For each first name we have top contender middle names picked. The first name is what we are struggling to decide on.

Top 3 first names:

Ruth nn Ruthie. Con: She may be reluctant to use her given name, Ruth in full is slightly hard to say with our last name if she wanted to go by this professionally.

Winifred nn Freddie. Con: My husband dislikes nn Winnie and there is a chance

We are expecting in August (surprise gender). If it is a girl, we are brainstorming options for a middle name to go with first name Gerri.

The other first names we like are more traditionally feminine and we would use my maiden name for the middle name. Other girl first names we like are Lucy, Ruby, Penelope and Stella

Looking for any suggestions that add femininity and whimsy to Gerri. Bonus points if it starts with G/J because we like the idea of getting the nickname Gigi out of it.

We both love this name with nn Birdie or Berkie. However, we don’t have any attachment to the city/school…it just fits the bill for gender neutral, somewhat classic, sounds good with surname.

Curious how this sub correlates the name subconsciously? We would probably go with another name if it resonates as a “we named our baby after a place” name. Any ideas welcome!
