Hi all, I bought the M1 first gen mac when it basically first came out and I remember I was able to play DotA 2 on it with reasonably decent performance even at 4K resolution back when I first got it. Most compatibility lists and threads I've seen online about DotA2 on apple silicon seem to indicate that it works perfectly - I've seen a few threads on reddit as well as the compatibility list on this subreddit and they all indicate that it works great. However, it does not for me.
On my machine DotA is basically unplayable. I've tried messing around with so many different settings but even if I scale down to 1080p resolution, exclusive full screen, lowest graphics settings across the board
Hi all, I know that various health agencies like USA, Canada and UK still list places like the Dominican Republic as a "concern" for pregnant women in terms of Zika virus and advise against travel there but after doing some research to find numbers of cases it seems like they are so few and far in between in most countries that they stopped counting. For example, while I couldn't find stats for DR specifically (which is where I'm going) I found this graph of cases in Mexico which is more populous and probably has more areas with mosquitos and it shows only 35 cases for 2021 and 3 for 2022 (which may be incomplete) which
Hi all, I have an issue which is super annoying for me as a motorcycle driver. I have my iphone mounted to my bike and I use Google Maps for navigation as I'm riding. I can give voice commands using a communicator bluetooth device in my helmet which Siri understands just fine. However, I have a really annoying thing I'd like resolved:
Sometimes, and I'd say this is not every time but say 75% of the time anecdotally, if I give a voice command while google maps is on display it will do the thing I ask (e.g. switch songs, call someone) but then after it is done doing the thing it will just put the screen to sleep instead of restoring google maps to the forefront. What's extra annoying is that

Ok this might be a dumb question admittedly, but even with a bit of Googling I can't quite seem to get a firm answer to what I'm wondering about.
My understanding is in countries that drive on the right, your left hand is the clutch and right hand is the throttle. This allows you to use hand signals (left turn, right turn, stopping) with your left arm since you'd need your right hand on the throttle and would be unable to use it for signaling while moving. This makes extra sense because that arm is out towards the oncoming lane giving it better visibility than the right and it also echoes how a car driver would signal with their arm if the turn signals stopped working or something.
Now, i
Hi guys, I have a shiba inu and she's more or less fine with me brushing her teeth - she sits still and allows me to open her mouth. I've been brushing her teeth regularly for years now. I use one of those silicon 'finger toothbrushes' to basically wedge my finger into her mouth and hold her mouth open while I brush the other side of her mouth with my other arm. She's always kinda softly tried to 'chew' my finger out of her mouth as I brush and it's not really been a problem until maybe in the last year or so where she does it with more force to the point where it actually exerts enough pressure through the silicon finger thing to really hurt my finger every now and then when she takes a big
Inspired by an old comment I wrote on this subject here in r/LearnProgramming years ago, I decided to formally write it up in an actual article. If you prefer to read it on Medium (here's the link: https://medium.com/@podrezo/advice-for-starting-out-in-career-programming-8690b6f61399) but I copy-pasted it here for those who prefer reading on Reddit.
My first exposure to programming was when I was thirteen years old and started trying to build Flash games. By the time I was deciding on what program I was going to take in University I was already able to write working code in several programming languages which I had basically learned from a couple books and a lot of Google searches. I
Hi all, I'm picking up a 2022 Outback Wilderness (2.4L Turbo) in a few days and I'm planning to take it on a cottage trip soon where I would like to tow my motorcycle with me. Looking at the manual online it says the Outback can tow up to 3500lbs if the trailer has brakes but only 1000lbs if it doesn't. U-Haul's motorcycle trailer that I'm hoping to rent says it weighs 800lbs empty (and has no brakes) and my bike weighs 408lbs. Based on this info, I'm gathering that it will not be safe to tow my bike but I reached out to the dealership and they simply told me "The outback can tow up to 3500 lbs - it will be fine" and despite me pointing out the 1,000 lb limit in the manual they insist it
