There is no one in real life I can mention this to so I thought I would explain it here:

In an old Armchair Expert episode, Dax talked about his Groundlings Wilford Brimley character and how there was an SNL Wilford sketch around the same time. And he thought it was a stolen idea because Wilford wasn’t in the public sphere (maybe he didn’t say “mad” but found it fishy or coincidental). And someone advised him something along the lines of “if you think that’s your only good idea, you should pursue suing/complaining about it but otherwise let it go.” And he let it go. (I very well could be getting these details wrong, while Wilford is brought up a lot on Armchair, this story was a few years a

My pediatrician reminded me to check my vitamins for any soy or dairy. My Nature Made prenatal (the big one from Costco) has soybean oil which I think is OK. But I bought a Nature’s Truth one from the pharmacy which says no dairy and doesn’t have soybean oil.

It’s my company holiday party tonight and I’d love to have a beer. Googling isn’t getting me great answers. Obviously no milk stouts. Are hazy IPAs ok? (Seems like no, have dairy) Are my only options like a Miller Lite? Or do you know of a certain brand or kind that’s definitely OK?

Have tickets to take my toddler to the monster truck show on Sunday (have very low expectations, planned on him lasting an hour). Checked the website to see parking information and I see it’s required for kids under 12 to show proof of negative covid test within 72 hours of the event. Where can I get one on such short notice? My pediatrician only does them if you have symptoms. Also, not trying to skirt the rules…do you think it will be strongly enforced for a masked three year old? I haven’t told the kid about it yet so we easily not go if the testing doesn’t work out.

I bought a used Tripp Trapp and oh my gosh this harness/straps is crazy. I have the older model but you need to disassemble the chair and unscrew a screw to remove the top of the harness. And I still haven’t removed the bottom yet (there’s like plastic pieces and I’m guessing I have to push it in with a pliers). It looks like with the newer model there are D rings so it’s easier to remove. But I’m really curious how this is so highly recommended for BLW when the straps are so hard to clean. I used a Graco high chair that straps to a chair with my first baby and you could easily slip out the straps and throw them in the laundry. What do people know that I don’t for cleaning this harness?

I have to brag and pat myself on the back and I don’t think all the non-breastfeeding folks in my life get it.

I breastfed my first child for 16 months with no issues, though I made plenty of mistakes with engorgement and milk storage. I had my second child via scheduled c-section last week. I was nervous breastfeeding wouldn’t go well because with my first, I leaked the whole time I was pregnant and with my second I didn’t leak at all. My boobs didn’t feel “heavy” like they did with my first pregnancy.

Everything couldn’t be going better. He latched immediately, no tongue or lip ties, I stayed on top of my ice, hot packs, shells, lanolin, and nipple care in the hospital. I was chugging

I’m 35 weeks pregnant and have a 3 year old. I hired two new people on my team who will be performing my job while I’m out. One started late last week and one early this week. (I wanted this to happen earlier in my pregnancy but the process was incredibly slow.) I am exhausted. Being “on” all day long training two people, talking all day, cramming in meetings…I can barely function at the end of the day. I’m for sure not eating well and go hours without water or the bathroom because everyone is pulling me into meetings or just has “one quick question.” I’m laying awake fantasizing about going into labor early just so I don’t have to deal with work. I have been attempting boundaries with other

I know it’s developmentally appropriate. I know it’s just a phase. Independence blah blah. But I am out of ideas and would love input from others who have endured this.

My 3 yo has become very picky about clothing over the past 6 months. We’re down to only one style of pants (have multiple pairs), a few shirts, one style of shoe (that I buy in each size), and two pairs of underwear I wash every other night as I can’t find the same print to buy more. I don’t mind buying doubles or doing laundry often—it’s the changing of seasons that’s getting me. Or the rare special days like family photos or a wedding. Me or daycare can’t get him in shorts or sandals or a spring coat. Getting him to wear

Googling seems conflicted on this: we recently discovered our cold water line to the kitchen sink bypasses the water softener. We were all set to route it through the water softener and then to kitchen sink but stopped after googling around. It seems like this is done on purpose for taste and less salt in drinking water. Our kitchen cold water does taste better than our bathroom cold water. Doesn’t seem as if there are any health concerns with cooking and drinking hard water. We do have a whole house water filter installed.

However, our water is very hard and I know it does a number on the kitchen faucet / the countertop around it. Even frequently used water bottles get that white deposit

I’ve had a very successful breastfeeding relationship (13 months and counting!) but also have had a few mess-ups. For example, my first night home from the hospital I pumped for 15 minutes. Ended up with 10 oz of colostrum that I froze. Was then massively and painfully engorged (they was ROCK hard and shiny) - so much so the pediatrician said it was like “trying to latch to a bowling ball.” I eventually reigned it in but that pain and massive oversupply was so avoidable. I did it because I thought it would help with engorgment (haha) plus my husband and I found it pretty fascinating to watch this whole milk thing. This hurts the most: never even used 5 of the oz, still in my freezer over a y

So far I’ve EBF my son for 8 months. We’ve been very lucky. Our journey has been pretty smooth - no ties, no mastitis, no latch problems, no supply issues. I work full time and match what he drinks at daycare or more with two pumps a day.

Now to my question: I’ve always been curious how much breast leaking other moms have experienced during pregnancy. And what has breastfeeding been like/was your leaking an indication that breastfeeding was going to go well?

I started leaking at 21 weeks pregnant and leaked “milk” every night. Sometimes a few drops and sometimes puddles. My doc said it could be a sign of oversupply in the future (And I did experience oversupply for 4 months but it’s regul

I have the Spectra S2 (the one that needs to be plugged in, no battery) and want to use it in the car on rare occasions. Amazon has a lot of options for power adapters but sketchy reviews - some saying it fried their pump. Anyone buy one that worked that they can point me to? Thanks!
