So I have been self-hosting apps on my personal network for a while. No issues there.

Now I want to expose some of them to outside. My problem currently is that I do not have access to my router's login page (as in, it is locked by the ISP). Another issue is that I am behind a NAT (of my ISP) and my external IP is dynamic. Realistically speaking (which doesn't involve me changing my ISP), what options do I have to expose self-hosted services from my Raspberry Pi to outside ? Any help will be greatly appreciated since I am at the end of my wits here after searching a lot. Thanks in advance

N.B - I do have access to a VPS (1vcpu, 512MB RAM) on AWS Lightsail and I tried doing reverse tunnelin

Hello community

I am running latest build of Batocera on a RPi zero W. As according to the wiki page here - https://wiki.batocera.org/arcade

the ROMSET version should be 0.78 for the ROMS to work and should be non-merged. I downloaded the required ROMSET but a lot of the ROMS still won't run. Also, some of those non-working ROMS work when I change the emulator to "mame4all" but not all of them. Can anyone help me please by telling me what I am doing wrong ? If my hardware is the issue then I'll try running it on something else.

Another issue is that some games work using all three emulators - mame4all, mame2003+ and fbneo. However the performance on fb

Hello community !!!

I need help for picking hardware for arcade emulation. I used to have a Pi 3B but not anymore. Currently I have a Pi Zero W and it doesn't run things (arcade games) very well. My goal is to run SNES, Mega Drive, Turbografx and Arcade games (CPS etc) and that is it. I do NOT need to run anything like GC, Saturn, PS or higher stuff. Another requirement is low power usage since electricity is not very cheap here and I need it to be small.

I could go and buy something with Intel z8350 quad core (Atom) or a J1900 (Celeron). Would that perform better or be just an overkill ? I could also buy a Pi 3B+ or 4. I have my options open but I don't want to muc

Hi all

I bought a Gigabyte Brix mini barebones PC based on Intel J4105 cpu. This one to be precise - https://www.gigabyte.com/Mini-PcBarebone/GB-BLCE-4105-rev-10#ov

I then went to check it's bios. The version is F3. However in the bios download section of the webpage I quoted above, I see only one version for download - F8. My question is, is it okay to upgrade from F3 to F8 directly ? Wouldn't I miss the benefits of versions F4-F7 ? If so then I'll just return the thing and get an Intel NUC instead.

Thanks

I want to know if anyone has been running Proxmox on Intel J5005 or J5005 based NUCs specifically. I am planning to get one for low power server for my home.

Ideally I want it to run Proxmox as a hypervisor and have 2 VMs (temporary/on-demand) running Ubuntu or CentOS (headless and without Desktop Environments). Each VM will be a node for Kubernetes cluster I plan to use for learning. Besides that, I want to have a 3rd VM (permanent) running Ubuntu and Portainer which hosts stuff like Pihole, Monitoring (Zabbix or Nagios with Grafana), backup, VPN server (for logging in from outside the network for remote management) etc

I just want to know if it is possible or should I reduce the work loa

So recently, I've come in possession of three laptop hard disks which are working absolutely fine. All three are traditional/rotational disks of 1TB, 500GB and 250GB respectively. Besides that I already have another 1TB laptop hard disk with me.

So what can I realistically achieve with the four of them for a NAS solution ?

Use case - Storage/backup of media (movies, ISOs, games, songs) only. No streaming over local/internet. Most of my family pics/documents are backed up to a portable external disk and to cloud.

Hardware I already own - Rpi 3B, a rust-bucket old PC (having i3-6100 and 8GB single stick of DDR4-2133 RAM)

I could attach them to the Rpi via Sata to USB cable and that should

A little bit of background about myself. I have worked as an Operation Engineer for about 4+ years and my main technical responsibility were as a Sysadmin and DBA. I also was a part of other things there besides that like Code build, DR and backup strategy etc. I also recently completed successfully my SysOps Admin certification and also have CCP

1.) I want to go for DevOps Pro cert but it looks like I'll need to get Dev Assoc first. Is this true ?

2.) Since one of my responsibilities was also as a DBA, I'd also like to go for Database Speciality exam at some point but I don't know what future prospect that cert brings for me. Is it even worth the effort ? I see that Networking and Specia

First of all, thank you u/jon-bonso-tdojo and u/stephanemaarek

I couldn't have done this without either of you <3

Second of all, man that was a tough exam. I got so many Cloud Formation questions that I wasn't expecting at all. There were actually very few questions from Networking (VPCs), EC2, Storage or Databases. Mostly it was CFromation, AWS Organizations, IAM, ELB/ASG and Monitoring/Troubleshooting.

Preparation I did was using Stephane's course and Jon's tests. Along with that I made liberal use of the cheat sheets over at the tutorial dojo website. Specially the "Difference between services" pages. It took me slightly more than a month to prepare and it also helped that I've bee

Had appeared for the exam this Tuesday (01/09/2020). Finished it in about 45 mins, revision included. I was very skeptical about appearing for it online since I had read numerous horror stories about the online exam going haywire and hours long support calls here on this subreddit. So I went to the test center which opened in my country in late August.

Preparation:

  1. Total time taken - Roundabout 2 weeks (because I am a dumbass and particularly bad at taking exams)
  2. Practice Tests - Jon Bonso from Udemy. This is the real deal and they come very close to the actual exam. His explanations were really helpful. I did use Whizlabs test too but they weren't as good as Jon Bonso ones. Not bad,

Currently I am looking at - Thinkpad E14 Gen2 (Ryzen 4700U) and Vivobook S14 (Ryzen 5 4500U). Both have 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD. Should I go for intel i5 or i7 instead ? Is 8GB RAM enough ?

No Win 10 preferably and it must have good Linux support above all. I am comfortable using Mint or Manjaro for work.

My needs are - running multiple instances of Docker and several VMs simultaneously. Basically I don't want it to run out of memory or choke the CPU. Good battery and portability (Definitely under 2kgs weight and preferably under 1.5kgs)

What I absolutely Do Not need - Gaming (except some light 2D indie titles sporadically maybe), color accuracy, high refresh rate/low response time scr

Hello, I've searched it and at my wit's end but can't find an answer.

Does Shadowplay/GeForce Experience work on laptops having GTX 1650/1660ti ? If not then is there a way to use NVENC with OBS on such laptops ? An example of such laptop would be Asus TUF FX 505DT (Ryzen 5 3550H + GTX 1650)

Thanks

Hello people. First post here in forever.

I have a situation that I need to address. I had a Rpi 3B which served as my NAS. OMV + 2.5 inch laptop hard disks attached to it and it worked fine for my needs. I also had another Pi zero W which acted as Pihole setup for my in house network. "Had" because I am giving them away to my retired parents and setting it up in their house (in a completely different city). They need backup for the photos and media and want the annoying ads gone.

So what I am left with essentially is a rusty bucket - an old PC having core i3 6100 with 8GB DDR4 RAM and a two 2.5 inch drives (one SSD, the other mechanical). So obviously, I need to setup my NAS. However ther

Hello

AMD support for their graphics driver has been great on Linux and Nvidia has their proprietary drivers too. I currently use a 1050TI on desktop myself. Thing is I have been planning to ditch my desktop for whatever little gaming I do. I hardly play for more than 30 mins a day if I can at all and it is reduced to mostly indie or esports titles. Don’t mind dropping resolution or details either. Also I have been looking for a laptop for my work related activities.

After some digging I have been leaning towards a Thinkpad E series with R5 3500U which fits my needs perfectly. So I wanted to ask how has been driver support on Linux for AMD integrated mobile solutions like Vega 8 & 10

Hello I am new here and before asking I tried searching but couldn’t find a proper answer.

I am trying to get into casual streaming. Right now I have a core i3-6100, GTX 750ti, 8GB 2133MHz RAM. My internet can only do 2000kbps up sadly(without choking everything else running on same connection), hardware prices are through the roof here and I only have limited money to spare.

So I was very happy to learn that I can use Nvenc on my Nvidia card to encode. However I wanted to know if getting a 1050ti or 1060 would improve the quality of the encoding. Right now my 750ti already has lot of render lag due the GPU not keeping up with the games. Either I can upgrade only my card or can upgr
