Hey all. Bought a zl550 that has been sitting for ten years. Pretty good condition. Started up smokes a whole lot. New battery all new fuels lines from the pick up line in the tank to both carbs. Fuel pump lines as well. New plugs. I drained all the fuel out of the tank.

My question is the sled smokes. Sooooo much.

I’m aware of 2 strokes smoking. I ridden 2 stroke bikes forever. But. The plugs when I pull them look like shit. Wet and black.

This would be the first oil injected machine I’m working with. Has anyone ever adjusted the oil pump rate that comes set by factory? I also don’t know if it’s still set by factory or the previous owner turned it up for some reason.

So really it’s kinda my second. Totally bombed on my first.

I’ll give you a description of what I used first

Weber Smoky Mountain 18 inch smoker

Royal Oak charred wood

Weber, Apple wood chunks dry

Venison steak sliced up, not really uniform pieces

Water bowl empty wrapped in foil

After an overnight marinade, I brought the smoker up to 160 180° and I put the meat on the first two racks. Top vent was completely open the entire time bottom vents were cracked eighth to a quarter of an inch.

I did not use the minion method or snake method. I kind of just threw all the chalk wood on the bottom and let it up.

The meat tasted very smoky kind of came out like shit. I’ll be honest, but most
