I want to trade in a dead iPhone 15 pro that does not turn on. I have already started a new plan with ATT for the iPhone 18 prob I tried to disconnect the phone from iCloud but it says I have to wait 30 days for the disconnection.

Am I out of luck trading in the 15 pro as it will be outside of the thirty day trade in promo before it is eligible?

Checked in today and was offered a room upgrade for the week. After some number crunching on the computer, the total was $500 and I agreed. Then the staff walked me to my room, showed me around and mentioned the upgrade fee doesn’t need to be on my statement and they asked me to directly pay them in cash.

Was I too stupid to realize she was doing me a favor under the table? I was flabbergasted and refused. I asked to go back to my booked room and they said it was ok and they would just let me have this room we were standing in.

Does this happen often?

Looking to take a family trip in december. Wife is pregnant and we want to enjoy some good weather before the next baby.

We are thinking baha mar due to it being a closer flight from DC (although all three options have direct flights from dc area). Little one will enjoy the beach and pools.

Any tip/suggestions?

I want to take my pregnant wife on a babymoon this winter (dec-jan) during her second trimester. We will be bringing our 18 month old toddler.

Any suggestions for trip destinations? Looking for 3-6 nights with nice pools/beach for wife and toddler. We went to aruba for our first babymoon and had a blast. I am considering going back there to the hyatt property.

My wife recently left her job with great health insurance to stay home with our one year old. She is 5 weeks pregnant and due in 2025. I am enrolled in a high deductible plan and have already made full annual single contributions for 2024.

Would I be better off signing her and my one year old onto a high deductible plan for the rest of 2024 and making the full family HSA contribution or should I go ahead and switch the family to a better plan and pay back the excess HSA contributions? My work has decent family plans but they appear fairly expensive.

We have $25k in our HSA now. Happy to provide any additional info if helpful.

I have a work conference at the gaylord. My wife and daughter plan to join and hang at the pool/relax during the conference. We are thinking of extending the trip and we are between a few options:

  1. Extend stay at gaylord and hit magic kingdom only

  2. Extend stay at gaylord a few days and see multiple parks

  3. Have inlaws fly in and get an airbnb for 5-6 days. See 3-4 parks or anything else neat in the area. Airbnb seems cheaper and easier but staying at a disney property is fine too

Any advice or stories you can share/recommend?

Wife and I had a baby in mid 2023. We both started 529s in 2022 in our own names when we learned she was pregnant. Our plan was to transfer the 529s to baby after birth, but we have some excess money for savings contributions this year after following the directive.

Does it make sense to leave our 529s in our name and start two new ones for the new baby in 2023? We plan/hope to have another baby in the future to use the first accounts. Any issues from tax perspective? Virginia based where state tax deduction for contributions are allowed.
