I've searched for info on this, but am unsure how to proceed as the Illinois benefits website is a total mess.

I applied for both SNAP and Medicaid in early August and was immediately approved for both. I've received my health benefits, but nothing from SNAP.

The Illinois case management portal is a mess. I cannot send a message to my caseworker, calling the various phone numbers I've found results in sitting on hold indefinitely, and I'm clueless about how to proceed.

It's been over a month since I was approved and I have not received my Link card. I have an approval letter in my account, and received a copy of that same letter via snail mail, but that's it.

Suggestions on what to do ne

Anyone know if it's possible to replace the straps on Crocs Echoes? The attachment point has a plastic housing, unlike the Classics rivet.

Sorry if this is obnoxiously obvious, but I've searched and tried to understand, and still don't know if my use case is possible.

I have an Obsidian vault that's a worldbuilding wiki for a novel. I want to use AI - say, Gemini - to interface with that vault on my local machine. I want to ask basic reference questions (e.g., "What is the capital of Kingdom X?" or, "Who succeeded Queen Y?"), but also do developmental tasks (e.g., "Generate a realistic climate profile for Kingdom X" or, "Flesh out the early life of Queen Y").

I don't need or want the AI to automatically create notes or edit existing notes. I don't want to upload the vault to any third-party service. I just want to interact

I'm writing a novel in Obsidian using the Longform plugin. As a long-time Scrivener user, one feature I miss is the ability to take sub-notes (notes-within-notes) that are not included in the final compile of the manuscript. These sub-notes are stored on a per-file basis and viewable in the side pane.

I'm sure there are many ways of emulating this in Obsidian. These are my particular criteria:

  • Each sub-note should be connected to a particular "scene" (file/note).
  • Sub-notes sh

I have a few international trips coming up this year, and I'm debating applying for Global Entry.

The process involves a background check, getting fingerprinted, and an in-person interview. In return, you skip the customs line and TSA body scanner (TSA Precheck is included), and have minimal interactions with US bureaucracy during international travel.

For context, I'm a trans man who's post-transition and passes as cis. All of my documents say male. I don't have any fear of being outed at the airport.

I do, however, think minimizing interactions with airport personnel might be a good thing. Currently they ask questions

Can I feasibly convert crank-operated casement windows to push-out? Is it as simple as removing the crank operator mechanism and installing a push-out latch? Any drawbacks to doing this?

I know it will make opening/closing annoying because of the interior screen, but that's fine. I'm more concerned about whether the operator arm that extends the window is load-bearing and whether removing it will make the window sag or tear away from the frame.

Hey all. Hoping for some help finding my ideal personal item pack.

Looking for these features:

  • 28 to 30 liter capacity
  • Will fit most personal item sizers for US airlines
  • Clamshell/suitcase style opening for main compartment
  • Separately accessible laptop compartment
  • Admin panel
  • External compression straps (ideally that don't block the main compartment)
  • Non-tactical aesthetic
  • If it has a hip belt, must be removable or minimal
  • $200 USD or less

I dig Osprey, and the Osprey Nebula, Tropos, and new Parsec come very close, but each are missing something or have some unfortunate design quirk.

I actually really like the Cor Surf, which is essentially a budget knockoff of the Coto

I knew 2 weeks overseas with the SKs was going to be rough, but man, it's hell in ways I hadn't anticipated. Youngest has a meltdown over a small embarrassment and launches a full-blown sobfest; the entire evening is ruined. Oldest loses his cell phone - which he was told not to bring outside our lodging - and we spend hours retracing our steps hoping it's in some lost and found box (spoiler: it was; double spoiler: he hasn't learned his lesson and is still sneaking the phone out). Both of them are glued to their phones nonstop, constantly showing me stupid memes and videos while I'm trying to enjoy the actual fucking country we paid so much to visit.

Never again. No more "family" trips aft

I'm visiting Plovdiv for two weeks in August and looking for a temporary gym membership. I'm okay with paying for a full month, but ideally not more. Any recommendations? I'm staying near the Jagerhof Hotel in Trakia, so closer to there is ideal.
