My daughter is newer to more formal musical theater.

She has done many summer stage programs where they learn a 30 min show over 2 weeks. She then was cast as Matilda in Matilda Jr this winter (and nailed it) but was just called back and then cast as Lydia in Beetlejuice Jr (after auditioning for Girl Scout). I feel Lydia a far more demanding role vocally while matilda was more of an acting heavy role. (Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong here)

Other than just consuming the music over and over and over again so she is super familiar with it, what else would you guys suggest for helping set her up for what I feel will be a much more demanding role - both musically as well as emotionally

Long story short, my kid is both a field and keeper. My kid participates in their normal team practices but also the club provided keeper training which is run by someone who has a very extensive keeper resume.

My kids assistant coach who warms ip the keepers is giving conflicting instructions on technique - but AC was never a keeper.

My kid has felt frustrated but kinda just ignored the comments in games but it’s now getting to the point that it’s bothering them because time in goal is being threatened for not listening.

I really want to say to the head coach “hey AC is saying things that oppose what keeper coach openly says” but I also want for my kid to advocate for themselves.

Looking for some sort of gauge here.

My kid is a late birthday and the league has a strict rule about what age groups can have players play down and how players can meet that criteria and they have to be submitted and approved by the league to do so.

Over winter they had my kid and 2 others play down an age group since indoor league is basically no rules around here. The move was because they needed extra touches and the move would give them guaranteed 100% play time every game. Now that we’re in spring the club had a few kids ask to join and instead of sending my kid and the others back to their regular team they are being kept on this team even though it’s against the league rules for 3

Context: my child (10) is cast as a lead of a youth production that opens Friday. There are two casts for the primary roles so when my child is not a primary, they are in ensemble.

My child has had the lines memorized about a week before off book (which was a month ago) the other child playing the lead has struggled to memorize the part and cues.

Tonight was the final dress before the other child’s opening night and the other child was constantly turning and looking to my child to feed them a line. I’m a stage had and even overheard them ask my child before a tough scene to sit right off stage and feed all the lines since they didn’t know it at all. Like it was a literal Cyrano de Berger

Totally uninformed here and just looking for general probabilities as we start to build a budget for a new wood stove install.

In the optimal location in our house, there is an existing pre-fab fireplace that runs up into a chimney pipe. It is NOT brick chimney but when I look up it looks like 6” pipe. There is even a fake facade around the pipe as it exits the roof.

We would LOVE to be able to tie into that chimney pipe a free standing wood stove and rip out the fireplace to open up the room as right now it’s a weird corner.

Question would be what is the rough probability (aka no shot, 50/50, good chance) that prefab chimney pipe would even be the appropriate chimney pipe needed? It cu

TLDR I help finding a Matilda JR piano score source!

Full post:

My kid has recently been cast as Matilda for Matilda JR and wanted to use Naughty as well as Quiet for contrasting songs.

She’s been rehearsing the JR versions for her show on her own and and full rehearsals after the new year but she has been asked to audition next week for another show that would be starting rehearsals after Matilda is over.

Id prefer to not try to quickly learn the extra verses in either song when she has the shortened versions down pretty good already and finding the piano sheet music for the JR version has come up with nothing from what I can tell. I’m willing to pay for the rights to it as is normal

My daughter (10) is looking to audition for an all youth production of Matilda Jr. she has seen the Netflix musical version as well has has done some stage work with some of the songs from the show and has consumed countless videos from broadway and the west end.

Based on some previous roles she’s done before and looking at the Jr version of the script she wants to go for Lavender.

I have a few questions as we prepare her scenes:

1st - her sing choice is the first part of Today is the Day from Shrek she knows this song like the back of her hand and I feel being expressive and animated with this song choice can show emotional range as well as vocal strength and range. Should she bring a

Just wanted to say thanks for all the input on the supporter section as well as other options.

I just pulled the trigger for my kid and I to be adjacent to the supporter section for next year to get a taste of it but also be able to go away and sit but still be close to the party if a break is needed.

Thank you all for the DMs as well offering help/support/an invite/etc.

Not sure we will be able to come to the guild this weekend as it’s the birthday weekend for both my wife and niece but will see you all for sure at some point.

Hello,

My daughter has become a fanatic of RIFC after attending a few games either a friend. I went to last Sundays game and I’m hooked too now.

My kid has always wanted to be in the party - so when she saw supporters section at a revs game she’s always wanted supporter section tickets.

We’re going to buy season tickets for her and I next year - but I’m not sold she’ll love BEING in the supporter section.

If we bought tickets in the next section over can she go into the supporter section for a taste of what it’s really like to stand for the entire game?

If hate to buy the tickets and then she have a hard time being IN there every game - but also want to foster her love of both the cl

I just don’t get it. We attended a soccer festival this weekend. Upper age groups do a proper tournament for each of the three divisions but for u12 and below it’s just a festival - no scores, no bragging rights, just come play 4 games over 2 days to end the season and have fun. 3 levels of play and it’s open to not just the league but even any town rec programs that want to put a team together to play. The divisions for entry were elite, competitive, and recreational. The guidelines were if you were in C league for the state league or a team put together from a town rec league and won’t be competitive then you could sign up for rec division if you were in the B or A league it said “select t

I posted over on the GK sub but no traction there and seems most posts go unanswered.

TLDR: any idea on any drills to build situational awareness for positioning (when to drop back when to stay and attack, etc) for a soon to be 10 year old entering u12 in the fall (no u11 here).

Full background for those interested and a baseline of where my kid is:

I coach my kid’s town club team but my kid also always wanted to be a GK since long before keepers were introduced. Fast forward to u9 and a few games in, my kid took a serious shot to the face and instantly developed a fear of the ball - but still wanted to be in goal.

My kid would instinctively dodge the ball even though they weren’t reall

Hello parent and coach (of their town comp team) of a youth keeper. My kid always wanted to be in goal since playing u6 (no keepers till u9 so they waited a few years to finally get that experience and loved it). Fast forward a few games and took a hard shot to the face. Still wanted to be in goal but would impulsively dodge the ball.

We worked a lot over the last year and have finally have curbed that habit this winter and now just back to getting regular game time in goal this spring.

My Kid is moving from u10 to u12 and I feel we spent so much of u10 working on not being afraid of the ball when in goal that we missed out on that decision making and situational awareness aspect of bein

Hello quick question. My Kid is in an organized rec league that is solely for fun to be able to play with school friends.

For context all refs are middle schoolers learning how to ref and I never would mention anything with them but more would say to the ref director “hey can you make sure they understand XYZ better” I’m just not sure where this lands.

Attacking player shoots the ball and it’s wide and hits a defender in the head - clearly unintentional head contact and his head didn’t stop it from being a scoring opportunity since it was so wide (if anything put it close) to the net after contact.

Play is stopped and a penalty shot is called.

Wouldn’t an unintentional header deem the ba
