The managerial class is in charge, basically. The likes of the Clintons have more power than people far richer than them. The manangers's power of networking and organization is more readily converted into material wealth than vice versa. The caliph needs his vizier more than the vizier needs his caliph, these days.
Trump is a representative of the owner class striking back at this truth, temporarily successful because we were just so fed up with the current management.
Change my heretical non-marxist view, stupidpol!!! Or not. I'm tagging it shitpost just in case.

crowdfunding.de/interview-mit-john-pratt-fund...Battle Royale games are, as I see it, characterized not just by last man standing PVP (which is certainly older than UHC), but also by a survival, resource gathering aspect. Which I think gained traction with Minecraft. You eventually had survival/hunger games on tons of servers but I think that started slightly after the first PvP UHC (season 3, March 20 2012)
Battle Royale games certainly have the same dynamic as UHC: Except for occasional early chaos (which UHC didn't have, but e.g. Hypixel Hunger Games did) there's long sessions of tension and gearing up between combats. It's just great fun to watch.
What do you think, should Fortnite pay royalties to Guude?
Let me explain. Let's say there are three symbols I want to encode, 'a' with probability 0.5, 'b' with probability 0.25, 'c' with probability 0.25. Since these are all negative powers of 2, supposedly encoding
a as 0
b as 10
c as 11
is optimal. And this seems perfectly reasonable, for an endless stream of symbols. But what about a string that ends? say we encode the string 'ab'. It becomes
010
using three bits. But we could save a bit here! The bit string
01
that is, ending at that point, is not defined. Our decoder would probably currently say "unexpected end of input" or something similar. Why don't we declare that to mean 'ab'?
But then, there are two bit s
User centric licensing is the idea that streaming should pay out per listen (or minute) per user, so that what a user pays in license fees goes to the artists they listen to, rather than it being pooled and distributed according to total listens. The latter is called pro rata licensing and is (as far as I know) how all major streaming services work today.
Last time I saw a push for user-centric licensing was back in 2014. TIDAL - named WiMP at the time - seemed to want it, and they commissioned a study from the University of Oslo to evaluate the impacts. I got the Christmas event, with Nicolas Paddlestriker leaving gifts in Last Hope "because you've been naughty". Two of them were items, which were so so, but I missed what was in the third. Later on when I reached level 30 and went in to look at the prodigies, I noticed I had TWO of them! Did I trigger a bug somewhere (an awesome one!) or was the Paddlestriker's final gift really awesome?
Either way, even if it was a bug, you bet I'm taking advantage of it!
