I'm reading Chess Rivals of the 19th Century by Tony Cullen, who quotes Sir G. A. Thomas in British Chess Magazine, v. 54 pp. 281-282 as saying (as a note to the more sensible 3. e3 e5), "Philidor's 3...f5 had already been found wanting against 4. Bxc4 e6 5. Qb3"
I cannot find a game with this 3...f5, though. In fact the only QGA game of Philidor's I have found on various websites was this blindfold game. Does anyone know of such a game?
Hi how do i get 2 bichops off the same diagonal, i dont want to battering ram with them or whatever you call it but for some reason i cant stop them from doing that
Looking for info on sacrifices of the form ...f6 1. Ng5 - notable games, any published analysis, anything - but unfortunately I can't remember where I saw it, what opening, much of anything. Maybe it was a French - it feels right, but I don't remember, and Googling just turns up sacrifices on f7 instead. All help is appreciated.
Weird question, but I'm looking for information on this sacrifices of the form ...f6 1. Ng5 after black has castled short - unfortunately, I don't remember what opening I might have seen it in, a particular game, anything. I presume it had to be in part a clearance thing, coupled with the weakness of e6, but I just don't remember much else, and I'd like to. Any help is appreciated.
