I've had at least three ~$1k cars in the past and always they end up costing me lots in time, money, and stress. While out of the country my current car is likely a lost cause as it won't start after the caretaker didn't drive it every week like I asked. Might be able to get a few hundred from it though.

So I can spend my money either to

A) fix a 93 Toyota Paseo with who knows how many miles on it above 118k (broken odometer)

B) buy another beater

Or c) get a used car on payments and hope there's no down payment and that I can resell it in about 7 months without losing much more than $1k. I saw 2010 Jettas are holding their value well, any other ideas? Can this work? Is it stupid and I'

This is the theme I'm working with. It's called 'Quite Big', with wide display images: http://www.tumblr.com/theme/9601

On my other tumblr, images sometimes, but not always, automatically stretch to the collumn width of 660px. The majority of gifs won't stretch, but some do, and most of the time while reblogging a post, the image, if smaller than 660px, won't stretch. Otherwise, posting smaller images as an original post will usually (but again not always) result in full, consistent image sizes on my actual tumblr frontpage. I really can't figure out what causes the inconsistency. Could it be the filetype of the images? Filetype attributes that are more specific and nuanced than simply the

I've noticed a trend with people who publicly oppose SOPA and PIPA almost compulsively resorting back to defending the "serious nature" of piracy and how it has to be dealt with, that online piracy is wrong, and that people must be punished somehow but not through SOPA or PIPA.

The only example to the contrary that I've heard was on Marketplace last night: http://www.marketplace.org/topics/life/do-musicians-and-content-makers-benefit-piracy

Musician Jonathan Coulton defends the benefits of piracy in this interview. There's still a hesitancy though in our society to fully embrace the changing winds of our culture, which he points out.

There is this fairly popular idea that it is the resp

Or maybe it's something else.

To put it into a hypothetical: I just sneezed on planet A. Suppose that intelligent beings similar to ourselves also possess the ability to sneeze on some other planet, planet B, in some other galaxy. Did I and one of those beings just sneeze simultaneously?

From what I gather, we may, if we are aware of each other's existence, calculate that the events occurred simultaneously, but someone on a third planet (C) in a third galaxy would correctly disagree, stating that I sneezed before the other. A being on a fourth planet (D) in a fourth galaxy would disagree again, stating that B sneezed before A. I still don't fully "get" relativity, but this much I can com

I asked a similar question a while back about reading about North Korea on the web, and people seemed to think it was no problem, and all the sites I suggested seemed to work.

But now, how about posting this sort of thing myself, will this be a problem/frowned upon? I never post pro-NK stuff sympathetically, but should I be extra careful about pro-NK stuff, even if I'm not for it?
