Doing a reread, and I came across this goosebumps-inducing line from A Clash of Kings, delivered by the Halfhand.

"Tell Mormont what Jon saw, and how. Tell him that the old powers are waking, that he faces giants and wargs and worse. Tell him that the trees have eyes again."

We're in characters heads a lot in the books, and many great lines would be difficult to translate to TV because they're not said out loud, but do you have any favorite lines of dialogue that didn't make the show?

It's nothing special to say that HBO churns out great content, but in a Game of Thrones void, the network has been putting out shows that are thriving in the golden age of television.

  • Chernobyl
  • Euphoria
  • Succession (Season 2 is next-level)
  • The Righteous Gemstones
  • Watchmen (amazing pilot)
  • Catherine The Great (another great premiere)

And they still have upcoming seasons of Silicon Valley, Westworld, Barry, and the new His Dark Materials series. In the age of Netflix and Disney+ looming, HBO is pretty fucking strong.

I love little moments like this, with Logan demanding a pair of sunglasses so the tables full of the business elite surrounding him can't read his face as he discusses sensitive manners.

Compare this to later scenes where he vomits while again surrounded by a similar group, or loudly chases after Nan's car. Logan is all about trying to save face, but his age/illness and temperament are getting the better of him.

We're fresh off of "The Long Night" and there're some people having a hard time with the Night King not being the final boss.

This show is about extremely human conflicts in a high fantasy setting. It's about the ambiguities of duty and honor. The double-edged sword power. The role of family, it's importance and hinderances.

You can't exactly focus on those things if the final episodes are all about defeating soulless monsters. There's no conflict or mixed feelings there. I'm disappointed there wasn't more to the Night King (for now), but it serves the story best to defeat that threat earlier on and move towards conflict that puts brother's against sister, countrymen against countrym
