I’m currently building out the domain model of a life coaching / self-help app, and I’m worried that I’m already making it more complicated than it needs to be. I could use some advice on how to avoid overcomplicating / over engineering the app while also avoiding a domain model that’s too brittle when it comes time to introduce additional business cases.

The initial business case I have is that the app audience will be targeted to individuals who will state their goal/purpose and give a deadline for achieving the goal. In our league we have A, B, and B2, and within each there are subdivisions for high, low, and sometimes middle if there are enough teams.

A geographically adjacent league has Elite, AAA, AA, and A. I don’t know if there are subdivisions.

Another geographically adjacent league has A, B, B2, and C.

The club leagues in our area have Diamond (or Platinum Select), Platinum (or Platinum Elite), Upper Gold, and Lower Gold.

Then there’s USA hockey, which has Tiers III-V for U10-U14 teams. My understanding is that Tier II is U15-U17 National Bo

There, I said it. I just wish I could make the feeling go away and move on from being heartsick every time I think about you.
