I have always been scared of having kids, but as I’ve grown I’ve come to understand myself better, and I genuinely believe that having kids is the right thing for me and my wife (she is on board with having kids, don’t worry, I’m not making that call for her). We have friends that love their kid, which is helpful, because the internet is rife with anti-kid rhetoric. Subreddits like r/kidsarecondomads are probably meant to be funny, but it feels like they are a place for angry people to be mad about kids being annoying.

Let me clarify: I’m not looking for a place to convince me to have kids or to hide the difficulties of having kids. I think I just need something refreshing and optimistic.

I got a job a couple months ago, and it is a total miracle. I’m almost done with college studying software engineering, so AI plus the deflating tech bubble make it pretty hard to get a job. I snagged an opportunity to be an “automation intern” at a company that has nothing to do with tech. In fact, I am the only tech employee at the company. There are 1-6 other people in the office with me on any given day.

The reason it is a wonderful opportunity is the aforementioned difficulty of getting a job in this market. My peers are all struggling, and I am one of the lucky few to get a job.

I hate the job because, as I said, I am the only tech employee who works at my company. I have no mentorsh

For secret santa this year I was assigned my sister's girlfriend. The first time the family met her it became a small joke that she is secretly good at every sport and game under the sun, whether or not she had played it before. Badminton, basketball, trivia games, spikeball, she's good at all of them.

So here was my gift idea: I find an obscure lawn game that both sounds fun to play and also that I can be relatively confident she has never heard of before. Something akin to spikeball or gaga ball.

Would this be a good gift idea? I could see a couple issues being that the gift could get boring and become closet clutter after a little while. Also, hard to play a lawn game when there is sno

This GitHub README page explains how to prevent Wagtail from autofilling the image title when uploading an image. The following code prevents it successfully when doing a single-image upload, but not for multiple:

[u/hooks](/u/hooks).register("insert_global_admin_js")
def get_global_admin_js():
    return mark_safe(
    """
    <script>
    window.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded', function () {
        document.addEventListener('wagtail:images-upload', function(event) {
            event.preventDefault();
        });
    });
    </script>

I can't define happiness in plain terms, because philosophers have been disagreeing for centuries, and if the greatest thinkers can't give one definition then I sure can't. What I can try to do is point your mind towards some concept of happiness you already have.

I don't mean happiness in the sense of fleeting pleasure, and I think very few people would mean this.

What I do mean by happiness is in the general direction of satisfaction, contentment, accomplishment, purposefulness, etc., but it is none of those things specifically. It is what makes people want to stay in their marriage, keep their job and go to work, and aspire to things.

My reasons for believing no one experiences this ha
