I have a few thousand dollars in a charitable foundation that I control. Does anyone have a suggestion for which non-profits could make best use of the money in the short term? Or is the answer that there's already sufficient money in every promising avenue of Covid prevention and relief, and Covid isn't a good area for EA? I found a thread discussing ideas, but they seemed pretty half-baked.

My image of the 70s is stagflation, the energy crisis, and mush from the wimp. And in fact the US stock market barely grew in the 70s. But US GDP growth was strong. Even after adjusting for double-digit inflation [Real GDP growth] averaged 3.3% in the 70s. The (much higher) nominal GDP seems like the better number, since stock prices are quoted in dollars.
Real GDP growth hasn't exceeded 3.3% since 2004, but the stock market is currently 40% over its bubbly 2007 peak.
Why did the US stock market perform relatively poorly in the 70s? Mo
I believe I saw this joke a few months ago. It went something like this:
I used to work at a diner, and there was a jazz combo that would come in after their shows. They ordered according to their instruments. The drummer would order drumsticks, the piano player would order a piano steak, the trumpet player would order trumpet tots, and the saxophone player would order the saxophone sandwich. I'd tell them that only the drumsticks were an actual menu item, and they'd all leave, except the drummer.
I'm visiting the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu in a few weeks, and I'd like to have some background so that I can best appreciate what I'll see. I've read "Turn Right At Machu Picchu" which is an entertaining travel story, but has limited historical information. I'd appreciate something that's more scholarly, without being too dry for a non-specialist. The AskHistorians book list recommends "The Incas" by Terence N. D'Altroy, but I'm not sure how much information that has on Machu Picchu specifically, and I believe that scholars have learned a lot since in was published in 2003. "Machu Picchu: Unveiling the Mystery of the Incas" looks interesting, although it seems to downplay the religious si
I've had my XPS 15 for 3 weeks and thought I had dodged all quality control issues. Yesterday the speakers started distorting badly at medium volume. The various Dell audio presets don't fix the problem, neither does lowering the bass. If I turn off sound enhancements completely the distortion goes away, but then the speakers sound cheap and tinny.
I haven't had a chance to talk to Dell support yet. I still have time to return the unit, but I'd prefer to fix the issue if possible.
Update, in case anyone finds this later: As you'd expect it's a hardware issue and I had to send my unit back to get the speakers replaced.
A good Mayor should win most Ranked games. They can ask everyone to whisper roles, and order around town to test them. Scum might get lucky and kill the protectives and then Mayor, but most of the time Mayor can quickly figure out who's scum, and Town will win as long as the Mayor is smart and they do what he says.
But the same logic applies to any confirmed town role. Sure, they don't have 3 votes, but if town is a majority that shouldn't be necessary. Every Spy should do multiple spy tests to confirm D1 then take over the game. Every Vet and Vig should identify themselves in the death note, then take over. The only reason people don't do this is just the culture of the game, most Town w
Does anyone have a clip of the final kick return by the Giants?
