Hello everyone! I started as an Activity Director at the beginning of July, and I’m struggling a little with navigating my new role and the dynamic with my assistant.

When I first started, my assistant was the one training me on the day-to-day operations because our previous Activity Director had left. I eventually went to our sister facility to get more formal training and learn more about what the Activity Director role actually involves.

Hi all,

Just wanted to share I found this senior activity book on Amazon but I see it's cheaper on etsy. Probably the best activity book I've come across yet. It's no frills and I use it tons. It has a bunch of call and response activities in it, worksheets, ideas and etc. Sometimes I use it right before lunch when everyone is sitting and not talking to each other. Not sure if this is allowed but I thought worth sharing. Have a great weekend!

I’m Emily and I just started a new position an activity leader at a long term care facility. I have some experience in nursing but don’t currently have an active license. I’m going to be asked to plan my first actual activity calendar soon & I was just wondering if anyone out there with experience could give me some insight into how I could plan the best activities for my long term care residents. Do you just get creative on your own? If so how do you maximize your creativity? Do you have a membership that provides inspiration? If so , where? I don’t want to overthink this but I do want to provide inspiring and meaningful activities for my residents.
