##Please:

Do not threaten, harass, insult, incite violence Be kind -- and use reddiquette
No Link Posts to Pinterest, Etsy, Kickstarter, IG, blogs, YouTube, etc. /r/knitting is not here to increase traffic to IG, blogs or YT channels. We filter out Etsy, Kickstarter, Pinterest. etc. Linking inside TEXT-posts is usually OK; it allows for more background information to be shared with the community. Review our [Spam] rule (7). Post in the bi-weekly [Buy-Sell-Trade-Promote] thread instead. We post it on Thursdays, you can find it perma-stickied in the top banner. [Or you know, ask us.]
If your post is NSFW please first think of others. This includes: visible genitalia, swear words in any language, explicit amigurumi.
Please -- no memes, pets, cutes, funnies without pattern information. Use care with humor and avoid posting memes or pictures without a strong knitting connection. Consider posting to r/yarntrolls, r/casualknitting, r/drunkknitting or other knitting subs. Make sure to include knitting pattern information (per rule 6) if your picture happens to include a pet with knitting.
Yarn/Stash/Notions/Tattoos are for Weekends only. RECENT PURCHASES such as Yarn and/or Stash and/or Notions and or pictures of your new knitting tattoo go in the "Look What I Got" thread which is posted on Weekends. Because yarn could be used in any sort of fiber craft it is not necessarily knitting specific. Some exceptions for mega-acquisition times (like the holidays) might occur but will be explicitly stated by a moderator.
Add yarn and pattern details to the comment section. Finished Object [FO] and Works In Progress (WIP) posts should include design and yarn info. Check back to answer questions. Don't post and disappear! Your project can inspire others if they can find the pattern or match the yarn. Put [FO] or [WIP] in [brackets] in your title for automatic flair. DESIGNERS are allowed ONE post per FO and only 1 (one) pattern per week to front page. Contact mods if you have questions or would like your project to receive the Designer FO Flair.
SPAM. We're a community, not a bulletin board or marketplace. Keep promotional content to the bi-weekly Buy-Sell-Trade-Promote thread. It is posted on Thursdays and can be found perma-stickied in the top banner. The exception is that pattern designers may make 1 (one) post per pattern and only 1 (one) pattern per week. Yarn dyers, spinners, or other related makers should continue to post only in the promotional thread.
Respect International Copyright, not just US/CA, and do not post pictures of patterns. If you're posting enough of a pattern that a reasonably competent knitter could recreate the item (e.g. entire cable chart for a cabled hat or mittens) that's probably too much. It's probably fair to ask that they only post the portion of the pattern that they absolutely require clarification on. Do Not Ask To Share Patterns.* <--This is a bannable offense. When in doubt, message the mods.*

##Our goal:

To maintain a vibrant, commerce-free haven for interaction, discovery, and growth through knitting. Promotional links, memes without a significant knitting connection, and images posted without comments or background information may be removed -- but can often be posted in one of the related subs below.
