Mandela Effect

r/Mandela_Effect

The Mandela Effect is a phenomenon in which the minority of the public will retain memories of past events that have been altered from the majority and the majority will have no memory or history of the alteration despite evidence in the form of video, print, merchandise (etc) existing that support the minority's claim. The name of the effect refers to people remembering Nelson Mandela tragic death in prison in the 1980s, when he actually survived long after his release.

##Overview

The Mandela Effect is a phenomenon in which the minority of the public will retain memories of past events that have been altered from the majority and the majority will have no memory or history of the alteration despite evidence in the form of video, print, merchandise (etc) existing that support the minority's claim.

The name of the effect refers to people remembering Nelson Mandela's tragic death in prison in the 1980s, when he actually survived long after his release.

/r/Mandela_Effect recognizes that there are possible connections to other forms of science, parallel realities, simulation, enlightenment, cases of manifestation, and other general "glitches" experienced.

We appreciate all of the participation and look forward to all of the contributions yet to come as we unravel the mysteries of the Mandela Effect.

##Rules

Please keep it civil. Calling someone crazy, similar insults or claiming someone's memories are false will not be tolerated.

Skepticism of the phenomenon itself existing beyond false memory is allowed but only within your own separate self-post. Please tag/flair it as Skeptic Discussion. This is to allow better focused discussions on different theories since this subreddit is dedicated for people who believe something is going on beyond false memories.

No low effort posts or titles.

No low effort YouTube submissions.
To improve the quality of posts on this subreddit, we ask that if you submit a YouTube video, to please think of a creative title.
The title should clearly convey what the video is about.
Please don't use caps lock in your titles.
If you're posting a video from your own channel, please don't spam the subreddit but rather interact with it. This may mean less promotion and more contribution.
For example, to try to make the post more engaging, feel free write a quick comment as to how the video relates to you or what prompted you to post it. This way we can perhaps generate a discussion about it rather than seeing it as yet another video spam post.

We do realize that not everything is an ME and encourage objectivity by considering explanations why the memory may have formed or the reason(s) as to why an ME is simply a misconception.

Please don't go claiming all MEs are a misconception, this is where the balance needs to be drawn. This is not what this sub is for.

We encourage refraining from downvoting and to bring the good content up through upvotes.

Please tag/flair your posts to help keep the subreddit organized.
