I’ve been revisiting some early Rolling Stones stuff, and it’s wild how much Brian Jones contributed. From multi-instrumentals to that unique style, he really shaped the band’s sound in the beginning. It’s easy to overlook him compared to Mick or Keith, but his influence is huge.
Which Brian Jones contributions do you think are the most underrated?
And do you prefer the Stones’ early sound with him or the later era?
Probally by the 70s he would go into hard rock or blues rock. Or he could even try alternative rock in the 90s, give me your best speculations.
I read that Brian ... passed his 11 plus
....and then went on to get 9 O levels and 2 A levels
as someone who only got 1 O level Brian puts me to shame...
he must have been a very bright school boy ... in the top flight ..
maybe he should have
gone on to University ?
My mother has a Brian Jones autograph. Obtained by her in person from Brian Jones in Cheltenham (either 1964 or 1965, she’s not sure) when she was a schoolgirl.
She, with her school friends, would regularly go to Cheltenham after school, often going to The Montpellier Wine Bar. It was there they met Brian Jones and my mother asked him to sign her French Dictionary. She believes he was there visiting family, rather than for the documented Stones gigs in Cheltenham around that time.
IF im not wrong Brian had 5 children by 5 diff women...
Im not criticising him... I think talented people should have many children... he would have passed on his talents and good looks...
Im just thinking that by now one or two of them would
have got famous in some way... prob in music... but not heard anything.
Brian was there in June 1967 ,,, the summer of love....
just one young guy among the massive audience... chilling out... taking in all the peace and love vibes..... would have been cool if he had got on stage and sang a couple of songs.... accompanying himself with an electric guitar... he would have got a great reception...
But would he have been up to it ? did he have the ... singing voice to carry it off .... did he have the nerve ?
