With our federal deficit increasing and no predictions of having an annual balanced budget in the next 15 years there are only a few options available to our government. One would be to allow high levels of inflation to take root in order to reduce the magnitude of our debt load.

Alan Greenspan said our best option is to implement a VAT, or national sales tax. France currently has one of over 15%. Is anyone else concerned about the effects this might have on our economy or our individual purchasing power?
