#Subreddit Rules

Remember the Human: Reddit is a place for creating community and belonging, not for attacking marginalized or vulnerable groups of people. Everyone has a right to use Reddit free of harassment, bullying, and threats of violence.
Reddit Content Policy: Follow Reddit's Content Policy.
Reddiquette: Make a good faith effort to follow Reddiquette. E.g. Insults do not contribute to a rational discussion. Constructive criticism, however, is appropriate and encouraged.
Moving or Visiting?: If you have questions about moving or visiting, please search the subreddit before posting to see if your questions may have already been answered, and consider posting to r/NewToVermont. For Burlington, another good resource is the Burlington Subreddit Activities Wiki.
Avoid Repetitive Topics: If a topic is actively being discussed in another post, there is no need to create an entirely new post to contribute to the conversation, and your post may be removed. You may add to the discussion by commenting under an existing post. If you intend to post a series of content that is similar in nature (e.g. press releases from the same source), please consolidate them into a single post. Search before you post.
Missing/Wanted Persons?: When seeking information about missing or wanted persons, include law enforcement contact information. When responding, feel free to say you've reached out to law enforcement. Please be proactive to report any potential violations of Reddit Content Policy in such topics, including but not limited to rules pertaining to impersonation, or personal and confidential information.
Lost/Stolen Property or Animals?: When seeking information about lost or stolen property or animals, please be aware of potential impersonation, and be proactive to report any potential violations of Reddit Content Policy in such topics, including but not limited to rules pertaining to impersonation, or personal and confidential information.
Personal and Confidential Information: Do not solicit or post the personal information of others. This includes links and screenshots of social media pages with legible names. Don't post anything inviting harassment, don't harass, and don't cheer on or upvote obvious vigilantism. Public figures can be an exception to this rule, such as posting professional links to contact a congressman or the CEO of a company.
Illegal or Prohibited Transactions: Keep it legal, and avoid posting illegal content or soliciting or facilitating illegal or prohibited transactions. External links to appropriately licensed vendors of regulated industries are not in violation of this policy.
Contacting Moderators, Please Don't: Contact moderators via DM (direct messages).
Contacting Moderators, Please Do: Report content that violates the subreddit rules.
Contacting Moderators, Please Do: Contact moderators via Modmail with any concerns about content approvals, content removals, or anything else.
